🧠 Wednesday Rewire 🧠
Here's something wild: a thought can form in your brain before you're even consciously aware you're having it. Your brain is already reacting to something, already deciding how you feel about it, in a fraction of a second, faster than your thinking mind can catch up. That's not a flaw. That's just how the brain is built. It's wired for speed, not accuracy, especially when it comes to anything that feels even slightly threatening. Negative thoughts get first-mover advantage almost every time. But here's the part that changes everything: the moment you catch that thought, even a second or two after it's already fired, you get a vote. And every time you use that vote, you're doing something real at the neural level. This is neuroplasticity in action, your brain physically strengthens the pathways you use and lets the ones you don't use quiet down. Catch a thought once, and nothing much happens. Catch it consistently, and you're rewiring which pathway fires first next time. So today's Rewire isn't about stopping negative thoughts from happening. They're going to happen, that's just neurology. It's about what you do in the half-second after. Try this: Notice one negative thought today, just notice it, don't judge it. Then ask yourself one question: "Is this thought or is this just my brain's first guess?" That question alone interrupts the automatic pathway and starts building a new one. You don't have to win the thought. You just have to catch it. What's one thought pattern you're learning to catch?

Yes! This is SO me! I'm already reacting to a thought I didn't even know I had. It always drove me crazy when people would say, "challenge your thoughts." I didn't freaking know what they were! But, now I'm better at getting at the thought or belief, yes, at first after the thought, but it's weird how once you know that, you CAN begin to work on getting to the vote. And I like this: "is this just my brain's first guess?"❤️
Thursday Skillset: Small and Practical WINS
How often have you learned something incredible, and three weeks later that skill is sitting on the proverbial shelf — untouched, gathering dust. So today's skill: 🌿 Keep it small. Two minutes most days beats thirty minutes twice a week. Your nervous system responds to repetition more than intensity. One honest daily practice compounds in ways you cannot track in real time — but will absolutely feel over time. Here's a handful of small skills you can actually use throughout your day. Pick what fits the moment. 🌿 Before you reach for your phone in the morning — pause. Take three slow breaths. Ask yourself: where am I right now, 0 to 10? That one check-in sets the tone for everything that follows. 🌿 Name it before you numb it. The moment you notice yourself reaching for distraction — the scroll, the snack, the sudden urge to reorganize something — pause and ask: what am I actually feeling right now? Name it. That pause alone is a regulation skill. 🌿 Do a Daily Release. One round of EFT tapping on whatever is genuinely present for you — not what sounds tidy, but what is actually true. Even two minutes of honest tapping moves something. 🌿 When something spikes, work with it in the moment. You don't need a full session. A few taps on a specific point. A hand on your chest. Name it before you numb it. Distraction is huge for me...I will suddenly feel an urge to check the news (of all things!) when some sort of friction is coming up with whatever I'm doing. And the friction doesn't have to be anything bad, just something a little bit uncomfortable.🤔

Monday Release: Let go of "I'll Start When Things Calm Down"
* Next week I'll start.* * Once things settle I'll take care of myself.* * This season is just too much.* * Next season will be better.* * Next year will be the year.* Sound familiar? That is not laziness. That is not lack of discipline. That is a nervous system so deep in survival mode it has learned to defer its own rescue indefinitely. And here is the hidden cost nobody talks about. Every time you say "not yet" — your nervous system files it. Not as a plan. As a pattern. I am not worth prioritizing right now. Said enough times, in enough seasons, that pattern becomes the default setting. The waiting becomes the identity. And next year arrives and sounds exactly like this year did. The calendar changes. The pattern doesn't. Here is what that deferral actually costs. Not in productivity. Not in performance. In the quiet things. 💭 The version of yourself you keep promising to get back to 💭 The joy that keeps feeling just slightly out of reach 💭 The relationships that get the leftover version of you 💭 The body that has been asking for something different for years 💭 The dreams that keep getting pushed to the back of the list None of that is dramatic. All of it is real. The Practice — Releasing "Not Yet" Today we are going to tap on the deferral itself. Not the busyness. Not the circumstances. The belief underneath it all. Step 1. Rate how true this feels right now, 0 to 10:"Now is not the right time to take care of myself." Step 2. If your number is 4 or below, tap the karate chop point and say three times: "Even though I keep waiting for the right time, and the right time never comes, I deeply and completely accept myself." Step 3. Tap through the eight points, saying at each one: 1. "I keep waiting." 2. "It is never the right time." 3. "I have been deferring this for a long time." 4. "What if now is actually enough?" 5. "I can do this." 6. "I have the skills I need." 7. "I can do it." 8. "This journey has prepared me for this moment." Top of head. Eyebrow. Side of eye. Under eye. Under nose. Chin. Collarbone. Under arm.

I've learned that life never really "calms down." It's really a series of events, some planned, some (most?) not, and our responsibility is reacting, adapting, responding in a way that is helpful or moves us forward to where we want to be. Easy in practice? Nope. But I think if we approach each day with the expectation (not in a bad, defeatist way) that things won't always go according to plan, we can calm that nervous system by practicing the thoughts and actions that make this possible.🤠 And having tools like you give is a great way to practice that!

@Jackie Rosch YES. The thing is, they're not easy to practice beforehand, when you're not in crisis, or in some sort of "state." That's why it seems like so much work, or, seems like "I don't need this now." 🤔
Rewire Wednesday: Resistance Remover
Yesterday we talked about positive neuroplasticity — your body already wanting to move forward, the roadblock being the only thing in the way. Maybe you read that and felt a little resistance come up. A voice that said this is too simple. Real change has to be harder than this. If it were this easy, I would have fixed it already. That resistance is normal. It is not a sign you are doing this wrong. It is its own pattern, and today we are going to tap on it directly. The Practice Step 1. Rate how much you believe "change can be this easy" right now, 0 to 10. Zero means you fully believe it. Ten means you fully doubt it. Step 2. If your number is 4 or below, start here. Tap the karate chop point and say three times: "Even though part of me doesn't believe this can be this easy, I deeply and completely accept myself." Step 3. Tap through the eight points, repeating at each one: "It doesn't feel like it can be this easy." Top of head. Eyebrow. Side of eye. Under eye. Under nose. Chin. Collarbone. Under arm. Step 4. Breathe. Rate the disbelief again, 0 to 10. Notice if it moved. Why This Matters Resistance, doubt, hesitancy, and disbelief are not personality traits. These are so often a learned protection. If you have spent years pushing hard for every inch of progress, your nervous system associates effort with safety and ease with suspicion. If it's easy, it's probably not real becomes its own wiring. Tapping on that belief does the same thing tapping does for anything else. It activates the pattern and introduces a calming signal at the same time, giving your brain a chance to update what it's holding onto. Not force a new belief. Just loosen the grip of the old one enough for something new to be possible. If something above a 4 came up for you, that's useful information. This is what I find amazing: "A voice that said this is too simple. Real change has to be harder than this. If it were this easy, I would have fixed it already." I mean, how many times have we (I) thought that? It has to be hard, right? No pain, no gain, and all that. Sometimes it IS that simple, it's just not always easy to execute. Things take PRACTICE, no matter if we're talking tapping, journaling, meditating, pausing, etc. Without practice, even the simple things won't happen.❤️
