Training camp in Pennsylvania
I talked to Maestro Mark Masters yesterday and he can arrange a week-long pentathlon training camp after summer nationals fencing championships in July at Arcadia College in Pennsylvania. We have about 7 kids ranging from ages 12-20 who are interested. Tentatively, the camp would run for 6 hours each day with one hour for each event taught by specialists (fencing, swimming, running, laser pistol, and agility/obstacle course). If you would like more information, please message me.

8/17-8/21 Pennsylvania training camp registration is live at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc9lXMIN1oi6XWCpl6hvOZWsGaGPd6xi-AAWhc7WlzEMyKCwQ/formResponse Everyone interested in pentathlon is welcome to attend. Olympic gold medalist Maia Weintraub fenced with the kids last year. Maestro Mark Masters is fine with all levels attending the competitor camp even if you don't participate in all the activities.

I am putting together a list of nearby housing options. I will post thw information when it is ready
Getting started?
I’m the parent to a 12 year old athlete who does triathlon and parkour. He just learned about modern pentathlon and is interested in getting involved but we’re not sure where to start. We live in western NY.

Fencing and swimming are the two elements of pentathlon that take a long time to develop. Not sure what training your son does for triathlon, but if he can swim once or twice a week plus start fencing group classes, he should be in good shape to pick up the other elements in a year or two. Fencing coach
Thank you for this introduction to the pentathlon community. My husband and I fenced for Columbia University back in the 1990s, and I am currently working as an apprentice coach at Fencing Academy of Philadelphia. We have three kids who all fence -- the youngest one recently started training for pentathlon.

This is what I had in mind for a subscription coaching model: The biggest time commitment for pentathlon is swimming. I have been working with Olympic coaches to determine distance drills that can help with cross training. There is also a cycle to peak for competitions that starts with endurance and ends with speed. Basically, you would get a monthly set of suggested drills along with Q & A. We can modify the offerings as I acquire more data from competitions. I was also thinking about organizing training camps in Pennsylvania to analyze and improve athlete performance. That is a lot of what I am doing with my thirteen year old.
