Mid career when I was consulting, trying to do video marketing, media relations, and social media I actually ended up burning out and spinning out and trying to be a provider of many services provided me no opportunities other than being a master of not very many!

Since then, I’ve narrowed my focus to only doing earned media coverage/media relations in some set sectors that complement each other well. It was really helpful. This was a great prompt and validation that I should continue to stay specialized and very focused in my established lanes heading into 2026.
