We tried to practice this exercise earlier in the week with my little 15 year old family dog Ode and Marlo was so used to him he wasn’t even a distraction so I thought I’d take him to fairy meadow and we attempted some loose leash walking and down stays next to the bike/running path… (his worst enemies!) I can definitely feel him slowly making progress, but we’ve still got a long way to go 😁 Those teenager hormones are really working against me right now lol.

One of Archie’s biggest reactivity triggers when out on walks is bike riders. 🚲 He can lunge and bark when bikes pass us, so this is something we’re really working on together. I think my boy did GREAT in these clips! 💙 Every training session is an opportunity to learn, build confidence and make progress. I’m so proud of Archie and how far we’re coming together. This week’s weather made it tough to get out, but we managed to catch the only sunshine of the week with an afternoon walk at the Blue Mile. In the video you’ll see Calvin was excited and reactive early on, but he settled as the walk went on and I put more distance between us and passing dogs. Rather than edit that part out, I wanted to show how his reactivity eased over the course of the walk. His lead was a bit tight at times, but I felt it was necessary while Calvin was jumping around whenever other dogs got close. Here’s hoping for more sun next week, and with it, more opportunities to practice! @Loma Simmons
