2,000,000 Words Written With WCP!!!!
106 Books in the Works, 1572 Documents thats an average of 18,867 Words per book, and 1196 Words per file with 16 Active users of 49 total users So roughly 125,000 word per user on the average. I know these numbers are not entirely accurate as a few folks have only kicked the tires. I only see the overview numbers above, kind of like a scoreboard.| I'm responsible for almost 350,000 of those. I have 3 books in the works, one completed and several short stories completed. I also know of two other books by other folks completed after they told me. This is a milestone Mark. The next targets are 100 Users and 5 million words. We've been live for less than a month! Genre's Currently requested and in the works: Crime Fiction Speculative Fiction Police Procedural any other requests?

I spent a moment sending your daughter some health energy, I hear it helps. Physics don't lie. The news about the number of words is great for this period of time. I'm adding another book now and should finish that one quickly as it only needs a final edit. I like the direction you are heading, just hope you don't burn out with all that you are doing.
IRS and Business Taxes!!!
IRS Business Trauma this week. I happily went to my mailbox and, lo and behold, I had an IRS notice of a balance due! It appears they felt I did not send my business taxes in on time. NOT! I had a timely extension form processed before the deadline, Form 7004 could not be sent electronically. The tax file was sent electronically 7 days later. I have a certified receipt, and the USPS shows it was delivered on time. So what happened? I called, stayed on hold for 1:27 minutes just to be told when the staffer asked me what my title was, I answered "Partner," and she said Wrong. and closed the connection. Called back the next morning 7 am - on hold for 59 minutes and got through - Yeah - wait... it hung up on me, another 1 hour and 7 minutes later I got a real human that got it. And the same answer "Partner was correct!?! RESULT: It appears they reversed it. I owe nothing (0), but they decided not to tell me and would not send me a confirmation and leave me thinking I still owed 518.00 bucks. Okay, back to the post office with a letter, copies of all docs and receipts, and another certified return receipt, just to say, send me a D*&^&% confirmation (nicely, of course). And how do we know they got everything? and shouldn't have sent me the letter in the first place, because all refunds and documents were acknowledged and posted with email confirmations received through TurboTax. Ain't tax business matters fun!@#*&^ Keep those certified receipts!

In South Carolina, LLCs are fairly easy and done in under 2 hours online, but DBAs are not filed in this state. I'm still trying figure out how authors do that here.

@Stacey Brooks Thanks for saying that. My only reason for posting wasn't just venting but to share that this is part of the business experience and, like you said so well, its about how we handle it. Although I achieved the end goal, I did learn there were things I still could have done better. Each day a new lesson and a new way.
HOMEWORK! Have your say!
What's a skool without homework right? There was a statement made that has bothered me. "I'd love to try WCP for this, but it looks so busy. I've been noodling, doodling, piddling and playing with some UI changes but wanted to get everyone who actually uses it a say in where we go. (I even Promised this---I think). your homework assignment (and I'm questioning my sanity here a bit): Go through the Tour in the lower left hand corner first. Print out, download and bring into your favorite art program, circle number markup describe what changes would make it easier or simpler to use. Bear in mind this is a web app, so there are some User interface Limitations involved because of html and CSS and functionality will win out over a change that slows things down or makes it harder to use. You can copy /paste from another program or app that has something you like or works better their way. Take a camera shot or scan your ideas in and either post them here or send them to [email protected] I will take all submissions and try to compile them into a couple of choices for each area and present them for discussion next week. My current thought for an immediate change would be to add a HELP button in the upper right corner next to the user ID that would have the chat, tour, and SOS/More form the lower left corner, the quick start, feedback, manual, contact info all under one Help menu Moving "Notebook" into a post-it looking icon next to the 3 bars that hide the binder Making Series/Book/Folder in the Binder more Hierarchal in appearance and Function all with rollup buttons. Unless you have a truly incredible idea for workflow I have zero plans to lose the basic three pane functionality Binder/Editor/AI Skillrooms Just looking to make it cleaner/more functional/easier to use and learn

I agree with Stacey Brooks that some people will call something complicated simply because they do not yet understand the platform, layout or idea. Oversimplifying can cause as many, if not more, problems. My view of CWP is that the 4 panes must stay. I see CWP as much friendlier than Scrivener and way more useful than It or Novelcrafter because your import and export features are way better. I like the idea that you are open to ideas, and that can only help. I saw the changes you went through when I had some issues with CWP, and it only grew better as a result. Since this is fairly new, I recommend the slow-to-change approach until you reach a number where both the number and quality of recommendations tell you a story in itself. As I see it you are already open to new ideas with your SOS button and feedback button as well as you personally respond to every email. What more can a reasonable person need?

I had a different idea for today but it'll slide until next week. I'll eventually settle down to regular offerings you can look forward to each day ending in "y" and expect the same but for now I'm Wild Westing it and shooting from the hip (accurate to about 10 feet or 3 meters for you folks that do it right - we even do math weird in America). I'm cross posting this from the Ink & Echoes Discord Server for a couple reasons. First to share my take on BIAM and using WCP this month and second for some critique on WCP's look and feel. I was asked "Should we use Colm's prompts or our old one's"? My take on this relates to how we learn. If you want to join a group project and learn a new method to do something you really should follow the method until you decide whether it is for you or not. Very few things in life are set in stone "DO IT THIS WAY OR ELSE" There are a few I can think of that I wouldn't want to be the first to experiment with. Ordinance Disposal is the first that comes to my mind--I was offered that job once. Turned it down because I really like my hands where they are. "Writers Write, Always." I thought this was by a famous writer, I had to do some research. It's actually a paraphrase from the philosopher Epictetus, but the actually phrase comes from "Throw Momma from the Train". Which I found insanely funny that the source comes from there. Write for yourself. Write for your family. Write for your friends. Write for your culture. Write for you Audience. Write for your fans. Write for your genre. Write for your time. Write what the money. Have i forgotten any? That's NINE separate audiences that hopefully if you want more success than "I did it" overlap. Very few can make all nine happy, so why worry about it? YOU get to pick your direction, you get to decide what it means to you. I think most of us are here to try to be more productive and successful. So WHO do you write for and WHY do you write? My answer to this: I primarily write for me, to get stories out of my head that I've been writing snippets, scenes, and doggerel about for 5 decades (since I learned how to write and put coherent thoughts together). If people actually read it, like it and it makes me some cash, well I think that would be a pretty awesome thing, but i truly doubt I will ever be able to eat off of what I write. Thankfully that is not my goal and not my source of happiness with what I do.

What an interesting question and point of view. I see the BIAM class as one way of looking at the writing craft, certainly not the only way or necessarily my way. As for the reason for writing, that one is easy for me, (although the method and marketing is still an enigma in my mind), I write to showcase human resiliency. As a 20+ year therapist specializing in trauma, I know the levels of trauma better than I know writing and everyone has seen some level of trauma from witnessing something, to loss, to disappointment to something happened to us. Every story I write must showcase the struggle and triumph of human resiliency in action with real issues and good endings. We already have enough bad ones. As for the prompts, I'm still learning and I often send them through an ai platform as research and possible modification when needed. I'm still testing them all if appropriate for my genre then I use it. I haven't run with them alone yet. Still cautious about that part.
