🌿 WELCOME TO TRAIL MOMMAS! 🥾🦋🎨
We’re so glad you’re here! Trail Mommas started with a simple idea: life is better when we get outside TOGETHER. What began with hikes and family adventures has grown into something much bigger—a community for families and women in motherhood who want to connect with nature, nurture their curiosity, and bring their families along for the adventure. This is your space to Hike. Adventure. Explore. Inside our Trail Mommas community, you’ll find: 🦋 Naturalist learning — discover the plants, animals, ecology, and stories happening all around you. 📚 Wander & Wonder Book Club — explore books about nature, adventure, natural history, and the people who inspire us to look a little closer. 🎨 Online Nature Journaling — slow down, observe, sketch, write, and see the natural world through a creative lens. 🥾 Adventure & Exploration — find inspiration for getting outside, whether that means a neighborhood walk, a family hike, or a bucket-list adventure. ✈️ Adventure Travel — discover and experience meaningful adventures around the world, with trips designed for women and families who want to explore beyond their backyard. 🌿 Family Nature Connection — raise curious kids, make memories outdoors, and rediscover the wonder right alongside them. ✨ And so much more — workshops, challenges, conversations, resources, retreats, and opportunities to learn and explore together. You don’t have to be an expert hiker, artist, naturalist, or outdoor adventurer. You just have to be curious. So introduce yourself below! 👇 Tell us where you’re from, what draws you outdoors, and what you’re hoping to discover here. Welcome to the trail tribe. 💚 Hike. Adventure. Explore.

🌿 Wander & Wonder Book Club Vote
1. 🌺 Among Flowers: A Walk in the Himalaya — Jamaica Kincaid A botanical adventure through the Himalayas as Kincaid travels with plant hunters in search of rare flowers. It blends travel, plants, landscape, culture, and the complicated history of exploration. Best for: adventure + plants + travel + culture. 2. 🐪 Tracks — Robyn Davidson Davidson sets out alone across the Australian desert with four camels, traveling nearly 1,700 miles from Alice Springs to the Indian Ocean. It's raw, immersive, and deeply rooted in the landscape. Best for: wilderness + women + adventure + independence. 3. 🦅 H Is for Hawk — Helen Macdonald Macdonald turns to the ancient art of falconry and trains a goshawk, exploring the complicated relationship between humans and wild animals. It's beautifully written and intensely observant. Best for: birds + wildness + nature + literary memoir. 4. 🌊 Upstream — Mary Oliver A collection of essays about paying attention—to birds, animals, landscapes, poetry, solitude, and the ordinary details of the living world. Less about adventure and more about learning how to see. Best for: reflection + nature connection + beautiful writing. 5. 🐛 Pilgrim at Tinker Creek — Annie Dillard Dillard spends a year observing the natural world around a creek in Virginia and finds enormous questions in tiny things: insects, birds, water, weather, seasons, and death. A classic of American nature writing. Best for: deep observation + philosophy + wonder. 6. 🏔️ The Living Mountain — Nan Shepherd Shepherd explores Scotland's Cairngorm Mountains through walking, weather, geology, plants, animals, water, and changing seasons. It's less about conquering a mountain and more about becoming intimately acquainted with a place. Best for: mountains + place + nature connection + contemplation. 7. 🐦 Vesper Flights — Helen Macdonald A collection of essays about birds, animals, science, landscapes, and the ways humans interact with the more-than-human world. You can dip in and out of it while still finding plenty to discuss. Best for: birds + natural history + essays + curiosity.

🌲 TRAIL TRIBE ROLL CALL!
Okay Trail Mommas… you’ve made it here. Now let’s figure out who we’re sharing this trail with. 🤎 One of the best parts of getting outside isn’t just the places we go. It’s the people we meet along the way. So let’s see who’s part of our Trail Tribe! Drop a little about yourself: 🥾 Your favorite outdoor adventure: 🐦 Something in nature you could geek out about: 🌎 One place you’d love to explore: 🎨 Something you love doing outside of hiking: ✨ Something you’d love to find in this community: Then take a scroll through the comments. Find someone you have something in common with. Say hey. Start a conversation. Maybe you find your next hiking buddy. Maybe you discover someone who wants to try the same adventure. Maybe you meet another mom who just gets it. Because we're not here to build another follower list. We're building a Trail Tribe. 🌲🤎 So… ROLL CALL. Who’s here? 👇

Hey Yall my name is Katie and I am the founder of Trail Mommas. I am a serial entrepreneur, mom of two, outdoor educator, wildlife and adventure photographer, and naturalist. My current favorite outdoor adventure is hiking. I am training for an upcoming Mammoth March (20 Miles in 8 hours) in November. Lately I have been very into exploring naturalist themes in books thus the Wander and Wonder Book club and taking that a step further with naturalist writing. Some places I am dying to go include South Georgia and Antartica as well as I am eager to go to the Serengetti. I love to be outside and enjoy birding and photographing nature. I am always looking to connect with more families that enjoy the same things. After living in NC for a while and not finding my people in the groups that I was already apart of I decided to build what I was looking for. Its been a super fun and meaningful experience to discover new hobbies and connect with families more.
