Wedding Cake Wednesday
OK, so this just popped in my brain! Let's talk about wedding cakes. Everyone loves the cake, well most of us do anyway! I have seen, cut and thrown away so much wedding cake, I can't even count! Below are a couple of things to consider when choosing "the" cake. Feel free to share your cake inspiration! 1. Size: Experts say one piece per guests, but I PROMISE you, not everyone will eat cake. About 75 % is a good number to go with. You also have to consider if you're saving the Top, even though that's only about 4-5 slices. 2. Style: The style of the cake should match the style of the wedding. It should also be a reflection of the bride and groom. For example, if you have a very formal reception, and everyone is in full length attire and black tie, a naked cake will probably not fit that theme. 3. Flavor: Cakes are usually 3 to 4 tiers, so have fun with this one. You can make each tier a different flavor. But it's also best to stay traditional so your guests can enjoy the cake. Vanilla, chocolate and lemon are popular. Red velvet is also popular, but some bakers will charge extra for this. 4. Budget: Everything about the cake will determine the cost of it: tiers, flavors, complexity of design, delivery, cutting, etc. Ask the baker if they charge by the serving or design. Some may do both. Wedding cakes will typically START in the $300 range, depending on location as well. 5. Design: This is different than the Style of the cake. The design includes lace overlays, hand piping, fondant items, sugar flowers, etc. As with everything, MORE IS MORE! Another tip that even the baker forgets sometimes is ask them to provide a box or two for leftovers. Not individual boxes for guests, large boxes that mom or the couple can take with them afterwards. First look or nah?
Just curious....are we pro first look or not? Here's my take.. from a venue manager and day of coordinating side, I AM pro first look...hear me out. It's all about saving time and staying on schedule. Especially if you have a set time at the venue. Most venues don't care how you spend your time pre-wedding, if you have the venue all day. So you can stage photoshoots and take all the photos you can! This will give you more time to spend with your guests once the clock does start ticking! Of course this would be a great question to ask on venue tours! In fact, I think I'll put together a list of questions to ask on venue tours and load it in the classroom!! Look out for that possibly tomm!!! Comment below on first looks!

"Fries Before Goodbyes: The Late-Night Wedding Trend You’ll Crave
One of the hottest wedding trends right now? Serving up piping hot, salty fries to cap off the night in the most delicious way! I’m obsessed with this idea—it’s an unexpected treat for the friends still tearing up the dance floor as the DJ winds down, and let’s be honest, it doubles as a gentle nudge toward sobering up before heading home. No wedding day regrets, just golden, crispy joy. The concept is simple: have fries delivered from your favorite fast-food spot during the final hour of your reception. To make it extra special, serve them in custom fry boxes for that personalized flair your guests will rave about. Here are a few tips to nail your “Fry Hour”: - Coordinate ahead with the local fast-food chain so they’re ready for your order - Use a reliable food delivery service or assign someone you trust for pickup - Pre-pay to avoid late-night logistics - Drop off your custom containers in advance (so no switching fries last-minute) - Roll them out in style—on a decorated cart for that big reveal - Have your DJ or band hype the moment with a playful announcement - And of course… don’t forget the ketchup!
