Operation "Save the 10 of June"
Here's an article explaining how portuguese politicians managed to turn the 10 of June, an important day in the Estado Novo (Fascist Regime), glorifying "the portuguese race", into an important day for the portuguese nation post-revolution. It's in portuguese, but your browser should be able to translate it. https://www.dn.pt/pol%C3%ADtica/a-operao-salvar-o-10-de-junho-como-o-dia-nacional-sobreviveu-revoluo-e-ao-espetro-do-dia-da-raa

Interesting article, thank you for sharing.
How's YOUR general strike day going? What not join the new foreigners' 'union'?!
If you have a dull moment today (lucky you!), might you give me a bit of feedback (and maybe support) with my new project - www.the portugalforeignersforum.com A Glaring Gap in Portugal's Civic Landscape? Foreign residents now make up over 14% of Portugal's population - more than 1.5 million people, over 1 in 10 of the national community. We contribute billions in revenue to the social system, build businesses, raise families, and invest our lives here. Yet - in good times and bad - there is no single, unifying and authoritative voice at the country's stakeholder negotiating table. Until now. Pledge support

Portugal's World Cup Squad announced! Are you entertained?!
Portugal has already qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup - the tournament being co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico (the first 'American hosting' since the USA hosted alone in 1994). This will mark Portugal’s how manyth (what AI?!!) appearance at the World Cup finals?

Tuesday tings...
Bed by 10pm in Lisbon And... "A moment that asks more of us. We’re living through a time of rapid transformation — social, technological, ecological, spiritual. Many feel the call toward deeper purpose and meaningful connection. The Wave is where a deeper understanding of wholeness becomes lived, shared, and real. This is not a conference. Not a retreat. It’s a convergence for people already at work on the future, ready to go deeper, together. This is a sacred place — where love and hope move into action." More here on Holomovement What else do you have? Maybe... Global wine consumption has dropped to its lowest level since 1957. According to the latest data from the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), nine of the top ten global wine markets are shrinking due to inflation, changing generational habits, and the rise of alternative beverages. Yet, as you are located in Portugal, you are sitting in the middle of a major exception. While the rest of the world is drinking less, local and national statistics show Portugal is defying the global slump with steadily increasing consumption. The Global Picture - Volume Plunge: Global consumption slid to 208 million hectolitres, reflecting a steady decline since 2018. - Top Market Slumps: The United States (the world's largest market), China, and France have all recorded noticeable declines in volume. - The 'Less but Better' Shift: Industry experts note that while overall volume is down, many consumers are upgrading their choices - drinking less frequently but spending more per bottle on premium, higher-quality wines. Local Contrasts (Portugal) - World's Top Consumer: Portugal consistently ranks as the world's highest per-capita consumer of wine, averaging roughly 61 litres per person. - Bucking the Trend: In the face of a 2.7% worldwide drop, Portugal actually recorded a 5.6% increase in national wine consumption. - Notable Surges: Along with Portugal, Brazil also managed to buck the downward trend with a staggering 41.9% increase in consumption.
