Soft Hands = Happy Horse… Or Do They?
We’ve all heard trainers stress “soft hands.” But what does that actually mean to YOU in real life practice?

Confession time
Have you ever given your horse a cue… and they just looked at you like, “uh, what was that?” 🤔 Tell me your funniest “cue fail” moment — I bet you’re not alone! 😅

Here's mine: Early in my career I was teaching a client the importance of pre-signals when cueing her horse. She couldn't get the idea and didn't think it was necessary. I told her to trot her horse straight at the arena wall without pre-signaling for a whoa. The horse ended up turning instead of stopping when she pulled on the reins and she slid out of the saddle and landed on her butt. No injuries but pure embarrassment on her part. Needless to say, after that the woman always remembered to use her pre-signals before the actual cue. The horse definitely had a "what the heck just happened" look on its face. 🤣
Let's Chat about pole work 😉
Do you think ONE pole on the ground could improve your timing, rhythm, AND your horse’s softness? Why or Why Not?

Does your horse hesitate when you ask for something simple?
The good news: it’s not your horse being stubborn—it’s a communication gap. Simple drills you can do at home help bridge that gap so your cues become crystal clear (and your horse actually enjoys responding). Leave a heart emoji if you feel a communication gap with your horse. ❤
