You can be income rich and still be asset poor. Income is something you make. An asset is something that makes money for you. Session work, gigs, and freelance checks keep you fed, but none of them keep paying after the work is done. A sync license, a sample pack, a publishing catalog all keep collecting long after you stopped working on them. An eight bar loop you never finished can still turn into three separate assets. Look at everything sitting unfinished on your hard drive right now. Some of that is an asset waiting on you. Income pays the bill this month. An asset keeps paying whether you show up or not. How much of your catalog is income, and how much of it is actually an asset?
