Good morning. I would like to better understand how inverters work. I am interested in learning about system sizing, batteries, and the installation and management. I look forward to your content and guidance. Thank you
WELCOME TO OFF GRID ACADEMY!
Welcome, I'm thrilled you're here. I'm Jim, the creator of Off Grid Academy, qualified Electrician, and lifelong Off-Gridder. It's really great to have you here, I hope this community provides you with endless value, knowledge, confidence, and sense of community. I started this community as a place to build something we all need. It can be so difficult to find correct information all in one place on the internet, that is rooted in competence, not just opinion. I see way too many people struggling to design, construct, and understand electrical systems that fit their way of life. This doesn't need to be hard, sure, theres safety considerations that must be made, but we, together, with safety at the forefront, can walk this journey together. We will get into the nitty gritty not too far down the line, I'll put up a post outlining how this group will look moving forward, what you can expect from me, and whats available. Until then, feel free to introduce yourselves in the comments below, let me know where you're from, why you joined, and what you hope to get out of this investment in yourself. I'd love to help you achieve your goals!

Hi, I recently saw a post by someone who created a battery by connecting many laptop batteries in series—around a hundred units—to build an energy storage system recharged by solar panels, with about 5 to 6 kilowatt-hours of capacity, used to power a house. What do you think about that? šŸ˜‚ I am thinking about creating a slightly smaller system. About three solar panels would be installed on a balcony. What advice could you give me about this? Thank you
