This Week’s Dream Theme: Teeth Falling Out
If you’ve ever had a dream about losing your teeth it might not be what you think. In dream symbology, teeth represent the strength of our foundations - so dreaming of losing your teeth can indicate that you feel as though you do not have a solid foundation in an area of your life (health, wealth, relationships, wealth) on an emotional or physical level. These dreams often happen when we are going through a life changing event, creating feelings of inadequacy or insecurity - it could be something as simple as growing older and becoming aware of changes to your face and body, or something as involved as going through a divorce. These feelings are as common as teeth!

Are we always dreaming?
We know that our subconscious is always running in the background, scanning our surroundings, keeping our bodies working and picking up the patterns of the environment around us, but does that mean that we are always dreaming in the background? Jung thought so, he not only observed that the unconscious is continuously active but is also speaking to us through the language of symbolism, at every waking moment, saying that, “dreaming is a continuous process, one which does not cease when we wake.” and, “the psyche is constantly at work, creating symbols day and night.” This idea would explain why we daydream when we slip into a relaxed state.

Night mask
Hi..I am finding that I am dreaming a lot more from wearing a night mask that covers my eyes at night when I sleep..your thoughts

Hi @Daryl Sarkisian this is a great topic for discussion. I too use a night mask as it helps in a couple of ways; as the mask is blocking out light it encourages melatonin production, which promotes sleep by regulating our circadian rhythm and providing more REM sleep which is needed for dreaming. It helps us move through the stages of sleep better and also helps heighten our other senses, including our self awareness as we sleep, so we experience dreams more intensely and are more likely to remember them. Blocking all light is a lesser form of sensory deprivation called sensory reduction, which was used in healing sanctuaries in ancient Greece, based on Hippocrates teachings. In order to induce healing dreams, patients would spend the night in a dark, quiet chamber called an abaton in order to allow the body to heal 🛌🏾
The value of dreams.
Once you learn to understand your dreams and value their insight, you can begin to see yourself in a new way. Dreams are invaluable on helping a you to gain introspection, and grow and move through the stages of individuation. Is there a dream that you've recently begun to pay attention to? It might help you understand yourself in a deeper way 🙏🏾
