I'm Adian lee
nice to meet you all i'm Adian Lee a beginner who started wrestling in 8th grade my 3 short goals are to get good at shooting without hesitating. my second goal is to be good at tie-ups and my last goal is to be good at down position in general. my 3 long-term goals are first to reach states. to be better in wrestling and be stronger and faster.

Welcome Adian! I personally would switch your first and second goals. Although it’s awesome to be able to shoot from space and think you will greatly improve in sport with understanding your tie ups. The gripping fighting is a chess match that will grow your knowledge of your shots greater than relying on speed and athleticism. Just my 2 cents. *disclaimer: I come from a no gi BJJ stand point but personally I feel my shots have improved since my tie ups have improved. Being comfortable in grips and stripping grips has made a world of difference.

@Jeremy Woolward that’s super inspirational brother. I just got into wrestling religiously about 6 months ago to help my no gi bjj and it’s been a game changer. I’m also 41 so it’s great to see someone same age doing it.
Hello
Hey everyone! 6 months new to wrestling but it has changed the way I grapple. I no longer am a bottom man in BJJ (I’m sure there’s a joke somewhere in there). Wrestling has allowed me to stay on top of opponents consistently. For anyone that reads this and has more experience than me (pry all of you), I’ve had double shoulder surgeries and am over the 40 year old mark. My question is, what type of takedowns, if any, are safer for shoulders? I’ve been having a lot of success with elbow peels to outside step high c and Russian ties but wondering if there is anything I’m missing.
