Don't let this frighten yall. Just make sure you let the AI communicate with people that opt in. FCC requires “prior, explicit consent” before you can send outbound calls, and FTC said that AI calls are considered “robocalls” in the context of regulation, making them subject to all robocall regulations. A few exceptions for some types of political or non-profit calls, but that’s the gist. And pretending that the AI is a human, or a politician, or a company fraudulently is illegal. TCPA class action lawsuits allow consumers to sue for robocalls, or robotexts, to collect between $500 and $1,500 per call or text.
