Common Mistake of the Week
🔧 Mistake of the Week Loads of learners say: ❌ "I have 25 years." But in English, we use to be for age, not to have: ✅ "I am 25 years old." Why the mix-up? In lots of languages (Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian...) you literally say "I have X years." English is the odd one out here — age is a state (be), not something you possess (have). Quick check: how would you say these correctly? 1. She (have/is) 30 years old. 2. My brother (have/is) 10. Drop your answers below 👇 (or just say hi — this community's just getting started and every comment helps it grow!) And don't forget...you get 10 points in our site-wide points system - just for commenting...
