MIA and other life challenges
Simply wanted to pop in and say hello. I hope everyone’s summer has gotten off to a great start and it has been filled with family, friends, and creativity. A couple of months ago I exited due to received some devastating news. My mother-in-law, who has been like a second mum to me, was diagnosed with stage 3 multiple myeloma and as a result she is now in stage 4 kidney failure. My husband, me, and our sons, have taken on the roles of caregivers and it has been difficult, and heart wrenching. As with all things there is a natural balance. Shortly after receiving the diagnosis, our oldest and his wife found out they are expecting their second child in October. I truly believe this is the sole reason my mother-in-law is holding on so fiercely. She wants to meet her new great grandchild. Creating has always been my therapy. It has gotten me through events in my life that I otherwise would not have survived. Recently that was not an option due to caring for mum. She asked me a couple of weeks ago why I was not painting and I simply answered, “I have more important things to do.” And I smiled while secretly trying not to cry. Apparently that was the wrong answer and she lectured me in her half English, half Baltic voice I so love. “Help me make something for our new sweet maza.” I had bought fabric already to make a new quilt for my grand baby, but had not started it yet. Mum suggested I create a piece of furniture to match. I went on line to show her the fabric I had ordered and she took it from there. She told me what she wanted and I searched. We ended up buying the cabinet off FBMP, paint and all related supplies that day. It’s still a work in progress but I hope to have in completed in the next week or so. I want her stamp of approval. All of us are supposed to be taking care of her, yet she knew what I needed to get through this - and gave it to me. I can’t express how much I love this woman and how fortunate I feel to have had the amazing in-laws I gained when I married my husband.

Well it's still Monday Right? Moodboard Monday
Citrus & Clay Moodboard There’s something about this palette that feels like a slow exhale… like sunlight slipping across a studio floor while you’re halfway between “I have no plan” and “wait… I love this.” You’ve got that punchy citrus energy doing a little dance with earthy, grounded clay tones… and then teal just walks in like, “don’t worry, I’ll hold it all together.” It’s bold, but not loud. Playful, but not chaotic. A little wild, a little wise. It feels like: Creating without asking permission Mixing colors you weren’t “supposed” to mix Letting contrast be the magic instead of the mistake Moodboard Monday reminder: Not everything has to match to make sense. Sometimes the magic lives in the unexpected pairings. So tell me… What does this color story whisper to you? 👀

Love the vibe of this one! Organic, unpolished, natural beauty. 💮 (Is it odd that it makes me think of a crab legs dinner with a Mojito? Dang it, now I have a craving for both.....)
Creative AF Sunday Check-In
Before the week starts trying to boss you around, let’s flip the script for a minute. No pressure. No perfection. Just a little peek at what’s brewing in your beautifully chaotic brain. ✨ What are you leaning into today? ✨ And what’s one thing you want to bring to life this week? Not what you should do. Not what’s been staring at you from a to-do list giving side-eye. I mean the thing that has a pulse. The idea that keeps tapping you on the shoulder like, “Hey… pick me.” It can be big. It can be tiny. It can be “finally organize my life” or “open that project I ghosted two weeks ago.” We’re not measuring. We’re moving. Drop it like this: Today I’m… This week I want to… And if you see someone in the comments doing something cool? Hype them up. Borrow a spark. Start a ripple. Because around here… we don’t just have ideas we turn them into “look what I did.” 💥

@Kellie Morgan “….my brain is spinning like I have bad reception.” LMFAO I am so going to borrow that line! 🤣

@Frank Heubner I have considered being a vendor at a few shows in my area but find it all a bit overwhelming. I may need to pick your brain about the subject and get some first hand input…if you don’t mind that is.
WTF Wednesday 🤔 (Whatcha Thinking For real?)
What if the next thing you create… didn’t need to make sense yet? This design makes absolutely no sense. A bird. In pajamas. Some might ask what I've been drinking or smokin. LOL 😂 I was thinking of my grandfather and smirked as I was remembering... 99 years old… putting on his pj’s, coat, and hat… pillow in hand… walking two doors down to his 89-year-old girlfriend’s house… like he was on a secret mission the neighbors weren’t invited to witness. He was a gentleman and wanted to protect her integrity and all. Always back home by 6am like nothing ever happened. (It was the neighbor who told me the story after he passed) Does your creativity work the same way? Not everything needs to make sense. Not everything needs to be liked. Some things just need to be followed. So here’s your question for today: 👉 What are you curious enough to create… even if it makes zero sense?

Grandpa’s are the best. Yours @Kelly Huskins sounds like he lived life on his own terms - and that is what we should all strive for. I have a younger cousin who as a child, would have an idea stuck in his head and he would just do it. Example; he knew he wanted to go outside and to the river that ran along the side of the house so he would run out the back door and immediately turn left, foregoing the stairs - just run off the side of their high back porch. He wiped out every time but he knew where he wanted to be and got there despite any, what he viewed as obstacles. Much like my cousin, once I get an idea in my head it’s full throttle and I become hyper-focused. I see, for the most part, the end result I have envisioned and that’s that. Currently, I am all about themes, and creating a series based on the musical talent that came out of the Detroit area. Will it speak to others? :::shrug::: I don’t much care, but should someone else dig it, cool. I create for selfish reasons - its my form of therapy.
new logo?
looking for feedback. I am looking to update the branding on my printed materials. Signs, business cards, etc. The general goal was to make the logo more casual, and creative. Here is my old logo, and what I am leaning towards. give me your thoughts

I tend to prefer clean lines, refined, simple design in logos. The b&w gets my vote. The other reminds me of the holidays due to the green and red text color. Just my 2¢

@Frank Heubner Now that I am looking at it on a laptop and not my phone I do see it is more orange. Ooops. I do agree with Kelly, the chair graphic is what makes the logo. I absolutely dig it. Are there certain colors that you are trying to incorporate? Are you set on any specific colors? If that is not the case, what if someone said those descriptive words to you, 'fun casual' what colors would you think of? When I read your reply I thought of a lemon grass green, not quite chartreuse, and a dusty pink.

I believe that furniture should be as meaningful as it is beautiful.
