I’m Julie, in SE TN. I have 2 Lavendar Orpington hens, 1 Golden Laced Polish Rooster and 1 Polish Tolbunt. We started with 8, but our 2 Death Layers and 2 other Polish Tolbunts were picked off by our dogs, which we didn’t discover until they were caught with the last one. We thought coyotes or hawks were to blame. We have better protocols in place, but this cold snap is testing my ability to keep our last 4 feathered friends alive! We have a heat lamp in their coop, but they prefer to roost on top of it. I had intended to add to the flock, but after 6 months, we have no eggs and so much cold it is making me doubt our future success! So I will be trying to learn as much as possible from you all.
