How Can People Know What You're Doing If You Never Share It?
Just wrapped up a great Zoom with Jamey Marcos on building a personal brand and using social media to attract leads. There were a lot of nuggets, but one thing really stood out: People can't work with you if they don't know what you do. Sounds simple, but so many of us are guilty of staying behind the scenes and wondering why opportunities aren't showing up. A few key takeaways: ✅ Be clear about who you are, what you do, and what you want to be known for. ✅ People do business with people they know, like, and trust. Consistency builds trust. ✅ Share your journey, not just your results. Instead of telling people what they should do, talk about what you're doing, the challenges you're facing, and the solutions you're finding. Think of content like a funnel: - Stories = daily behind-the-scenes updates - Reels/Shorts = quick education and insights - Written posts = deeper explanations and conversations - Long-form content = where your most qualified leads get to know you One thing I loved was the reminder to stop overcomplicating content creation. Most of us already have everything we need in our pockets. An iPhone, Canva, and CapCut are enough to get started. Another takeaway: be intentional about engagement. Spend a few minutes each day commenting, adding value, and participating in conversations. Over time, people start recognizing you as the person who consistently shows up and helps. My biggest reminder from today: How can people know what you're doing if you've never shared it? If you're building a business, raising capital, investing in real estate, or pursuing any entrepreneurial venture, don't underestimate the power of documenting your journey. Someone out there is looking for exactly what you do—they just haven't found you yet. Don't look back in a year from now and wish you had started sooner! This has been a recurring theme for me in my life, and I will no longer allow it! THANK YOU JAMEY! For those who missed today's Zoom, what's one thing you're currently working on that more people should know about?
