Does this sound like you?
Reading the book Gift of Power by Archie Fire Lame Deer, he talks about how it was inconvenient being a Medicine Man, Shaman and Healer because he would be called to administer healing to the tribe which was sometimes scattered across the reservation. The dilemma was, he said, that he was born to be the healer and Medicine Man. Do you feel that you have endured struggles financially or pycholgically because you were born to work in this field?

That’s definitely one reflect on and come back to, although my initial response is it’s a definite possibility.
Which therapy do you find most effective for managing hot flushes and why?
I’m often asked this question and I do have a couple of answers depending on time of day as in my experience night sweats are somewhat different to the bright red daytime flush. My nighttime go to is a hydrosol spritz containing adaptogenic hydrosols such as geranium and lavender with a touch of peppermint for physical cooling. For daytime I think it’s hard to beat reflexology. So what’s your go to, either for yourself or your clients?

@Vicci C that’s really interesting that breath work helped hot flushes. I always use it with clients who need a vagus reset, but never thought of it in this context. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻

@Jane Lawson do you know if there was a particular brand you used? I recently had an 80 year old client who is using oestrogen pessaries as prescribed by her gp to prevent UTI’s tell me she still suffers hot flushes and her GP told her it was because of the pessaries. Wondering if Sage capsules might be helpful in this instance.
Lazy Sunday Ponderings.....Which EO ARE you?
My students know that if I had to select just one essential oil to take on a deserted island it would be Marjoram. They also know that if I had to say which essential oil represents me as a person, it is also Marjoram. They also know that one of my heroe's of Aromatherapy is Daniel Penoel. " What is the first memory about your first contact with essential oils? My first memory is about marjoram (true marjoram, Origanum majorana). I was very impressed by the powerful scent of this aromatic liquid, and from that moment on, I felt that essential oils would become part of my life. So, 53 years later, it remains to be true!" Daniel Penoel So, for today's lazy Sunday ponderings, which EO exemplifies your personality?

@Jane Lawson The first time I smelled Elemi it made my mouth water uncontrollably 😆 it was years ago (23 to be precise) and I can still feel it now.

Introduce yourself!
Go on, be a devil.... tell us a little or a lot about yourself 😊, let's get to know you! Are you a novice/home user of complementary therapies or a therapist or currently a student? Rainbows, Jane

Hello! Thank you Jane for creating this space I’ve been a therapist for nearly 30 years I practice clinical aromatherapy, reflexology and various forms of massage. I’m In clinic 3-4 days a week and outside of that am a menopause coach and trainer where surprise surprise I specialise in demystifying the science and supporting women to understand which natural approaches would best serve them.
