Value First 🗣️
I recently had a post on TikTok not do "well". Even when I was very confident in the hook! & after looking into the data of the video, it was pretty clear why. The hook - first couple seconds had great retention (people were staying). But once the video cut to the first point that I make, there was immediate drop off in retention (people swiped away). That tells me the first point I make in the video simply did not resonate with the viewer or match the hook. For context the video was about a bluetooth speaker, and the hook I went with was: Before you buy a bluetooth speaker, you may want to consider more than just sound quality. It then cut to the first point where I started talking about the design/looks of the speaker. And well that clearly did not satisfy the viewer lol. Anyways, another reminder that, although hyper focusing on the hook of the video is great, what follows right after should be the most value. Said another way, if you have 5 things to say after the hook. Make sure the strongest/best points are in the front of the video, instead of hiding at the end.

Just post it
The best advice I could give myself 2 years ago is JUST POST IT! There is too many examples of people starting something that they thought was going to be "It". Just to find out that they didnt really like it that much or it flat out does not work the way they thought it does. Which is OK! But staying on the sidelines trying to come up with a perfect plan, is usually a pretty good way to ensure nothing gets done.

Quality is Subjective
As social media keeps growing. So does the "quality" of many creators videos. Which has led many people to digest that content and subconsciously put themselves in the same category. Next thing you know they are overthinking a piece of content for an entire month, instead of just executing on the video. The reality is, there are videos with very little editing and shot on an iPhone, with millions of views. And there is videos recorded in 8k resolution with insane amounts of editing, also with millions of views. All that matters is that you are packaging your content specifically for the audience your trying to reach. Don't overthink it!
