Working towards a Zen Ride
Have you ever felt like you're stuck in a recurring loop in your life, having the same types of interactions with different people over and over? This common experience can be understood through a psychological concept known as "life scripts." First introduced by psychiatrist Eric Berne as part of a theory called Transactional Analysis, a life script is an unconscious life plan we form in childhood based on our early experiences and messages from caregivers. These scripts shape our beliefs about ourselves, others, and the world, influencing our behaviors and reactions without us even realizing it. These ingrained patterns can lead us to react to situations involuntarily, much like an actor following a pre-written script in a movie. Instead of consciously choosing our responses, we fall back on these old, familiar patterns. This is the difference between being reactive—letting external circumstances and old habits dictate our actions—and being proactive, where we pause, think, and make a conscious choice about how to respond. Just as a motorcycle rider must consciously practice skills to navigate a challenging road rather than relying on instinct alone, we can learn to recognize our own life scripts. By understanding the unconscious patterns that drive our behavior, we can begin to challenge and rewrite them. This allows us to move from simply reacting to life's events to proactively choosing our actions and building more fulfilling relationships. The principles of awareness and conscious choice are transferable to any activity, empowering us to lead a more wonderful and intentional life. I am thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of a special program for our community. This exclusive training is built upon a powerful framework of insights shared with me by my mentor, Mr. Coach. He has curated this world-class material from his extensive experience in global executive training, and it's noteworthy that these same principles are utilized in leadership development at the Vatican. I am currently adapting this transformative content for our virtual learning platform and look forward to sharing it with you soon.
