I think I’ve had 20 emails in the last month telling me a book of mine has been selected to be featured in someone’s book club, from places as far flung as Hong Kong and Dublin. They all follow the same format: a gushing summary of the plot (AI generated for sure)and why it’s the most important book since Lord Of the Rings. They then ask me if I am interested in having my book featured. I don’t respond to them, but I assume that if I did the next step will be a fee. They upped their game this morning, telling me I was going to be featured at the London Book Fair. For the bargain price of €1700. TBH, I almost fell for the first book club one until I got 4 others in quick succession. It saddens me that there are people out there trading on the insecurities of authors trying to figure out how to increase their sales. Have any of you guys seen these emails? Have you responded? How much do they want?

It's just rude. A little different, but I live in the country and one of the local farmers has a farmgate stall outside his driveway. He put a post up yesterday that it would now only be open between certain hours as over the last 2-3 weeks they have had $250 stolen in goods and cash. That's quite a bit when it's only eggs and honey.
