FUNKY WAFFLE NACHOS
You can feed a family of four for under £5.00 using this classic kid favourite: Crispy Potato Waffle Nachos. It’s much cheaper than real nachos, filling because of the potatoes, and hits all the "comfort food" notes kids love! ❤️ Ingredients - To Feed Family Of 4 • Frozen Potato Waffles (1 pack of 10–12): £1.50 • The hearty, crispy base of the meal. • Grated Cheddar or Mozzarella (200g bag): £1.60 • Essential for that "nacho" cheese pull. • Baked Beans (1 standard tin): £0.45 • A cheap, kid-friendly source of protein and fibre. • Mild Salsa or Passata (1 jar): £0.80 • Adds moisture and flavour to the "nacho" layers. • Optional: "Wonky" Peppers or Spring Onions: £0.20 (portion cost) • Great for adding a bit of colour and crunch. Total Estimated Cost: £4.35 — £4.55 Based on (Lidl Prices) How to Make It 1. Grill or oven-bake the waffles until they are extra crispy (about 15 minutes at 200°C). 2. Lay them flat on a baking tray, slightly overlapping. Pour over the (mostly drained) baked beans and a few dollops of salsa. 3. Cover the whole lot in cheese. Pop it back under the grill for 2–3 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and "stretchy." 4. Serve it right off the tray in the middle of the table for everyone to dig in. Make it messy, let everyone dig in! Look for "Wonky" or "Imperfect" veg. You can often get a bag for under £1.00, and finely chopping half a pepper over the cheese adds a nice crunch and some vitamins for just a few pence.

Welcome To The Table!
I’m so excited to have you here! I started this community because I know how stressful the "5 PM scramble" can be, and I wanted to create a space where we can make family cooking simple, fun, and affordable again. This isn't just a place for recipes; it’s a place for us to support each other in feeding our families well without the burnout. To get us started, I’d love to meet you! Comment below with: 1. Where are you from? 🌍 2. What is the one meal your family always clears their plates for? 😋 3. What’s your biggest struggle in the kitchen right now? (Picky eaters, no time, grocery costs, etc.)
