AI and Music
Not trying to start a pro- or anti-AI war here, but… Recent surveys suggest that somewhere between 48% and 87% of working/independent musicians are using AI in some part of their process, depending on who was surveyed. (Ditto Music 48%, LANDR 87%) I get why some musicians don't like fully AI-generated songs—lyrics, music, vocals, arrangement, etc. Simply writing a prompt doesn't make one a songwriter or musician. But there are a lot of ways to use AI without having it create the song for you. It can help with lyrics, ideas, learning, or even let a solo artist fill in instruments they don't play. What's harder for me to understand is the idea that any use of AI somehow makes the music less legitimate. So, whether you're a beginner or have been playing for decades: Do you use AI at all in your musical process? If so, what do you use it for? Not looking to change anybody's mind. I'm just curious where other guitar players draw the line.

Some above mentioned using AI to separate recordings into stem tracks. I actually have used that technology to separate live recordings into multiple tracks, the program I use is actually pretty decent at it. And I use the individual split tracks of the instruments and vocals to clean up the audio. Then reinserted into the video for a little more well balanced live audio where you can hear everything more clearly.

@Dennis Gaskill Moises.ai it’s an app. To get the full experience, you have to pay, and it is a little pricey. You can use it for free, but with less functionality. If you subscribe to the paid version, you can split into many more tracks than with the free version. Like you can split the drums into several different stems. Also split vocals and backing vocals and lead and rhythm Guitars. Free version you can only have vocals, Guitars drums, etc., on single tracks.
Which one is it?

I have two right now that are roughly equal. My Cort KX500EBK. And my Yamaha Revstar RSS20.

@Ben Fisher it’s pretty awesome! The passive boost circuit feature via the push pull tone knob is really neat. Using an audio transformer to accomplish this without needing a battery is one of the most ingenuitive things I’ve seen on a guitar.
Big cabs
For you electric players, what’s the largest speaker cabinet you’ve used when performing? Mine was a stack of 2x12 cabs back when I had my van years ago. That stuff is too heavy to safely lift now.

Years ago, I had a 410 Randall newer model, not vintage. And a little bit more recently than that still years ago and it is still playing bass for a band and had a 410 Behringer cabinet with a 210 Behringer combo on top. That was the biggest one, sounded great but what a PITA to lug around! I’ve done nothing but downsize ever since.
Ouchie!
Anybody ever get that sensation like there’s a micro splinter in your fingertip but you can’t see anything there? It’s like a nerve is being triggered. That’s a problem when it’s a fretting finger. How can I de-sensitize this thing so I can get back to playing? 😁🎸

@Billy T Scrapper Man I think I’m doing the same thing on my middle finger playing Cadd9 and Gadd9 chords. I play pretty light strings on my acoustic and it’s still an issue for me.
If you could steal one guitarist's ability...
If you could magically acquire the ability of any guitarist—past or present—whose ability would you take? I'm thinking we might find some awesome guitarists we're not familiar with to check out. Even if they're famous, they may not play in a genre we don't listen to. I'm leaning toward Stevie Ray Vaughn.

A recent discovery for me, but my top pick now is Roy Buchanan.

Hi all! I’m a musician in my late 30s from eastern Missouri. Love gear and am a quality assurance engineer by trade. So this place is a perfect fit!
