not sure who all here is aware of The Draftsmen, but the hosts (Stan and Michael) had a series of episodes discussing the importance of knowing your "Art Parents". Basically, if you found that your real parents were clueless on how to encourage your art journey (or for some just downright Unsupportive) you can always find artists and work that inspire you and guide you on your art journey! And these collective artists can officially your new Art Parents! They can teach you, guide you, and help you form your own unique style 😊 With my job, I'm helping tutor young artists. I called this project "Find Your Style", which is basically the same thing, and we have made our own little Art Style Boards to help find our inspirations. It's more than just finding media you like (video games, shows, movies). Really look at it, and figure out why you are visually drawn to some media, and not others. As I put mine together, I noticed a few patterns that keep coming up within the board (beyond just the general "childish" theme haha 🤪) -People + Figures -BIG Expressions -Movement/Action -Linework -Simple coloring (graphic over painting) I'm curious who are some other Art Parents out there? It's a wonderful little exercise to do, especially when facing some Art Block!
