@Corel Anthony I have been reading “It Takes What it Takes” by Trevor Moawad and he is a pioneer to CMPC training in my opinion. He focuses so much on “Neutral Thinking” and how it allows those factors like Confidence and empathy to build as a result.
Motivation
Reflection Prompt How have you seen reinforcement (positive or negative) influence performance behaviors in sport or performance settings? Community Prompt Share one example of how a mental skill could be shaped using learning principles rather than motivation alone.

I was never the fastest, most skilled, or exceptionally talented athlete. I often had to use other methods to become “better” than those that were actually the more “talented”. When I have athletes that are struggling with a particularly opponent due to their “strengths” appearing as if they’re more than my athlete, we switch focus and work on poise technique. Ask the athlete to watch film. Study a movement pattern that the opponent does within the first 2 minutes of performance and in the last 1 minute of their performance. Now, develop a written plan of how they can defend their position in those 3 minutes of time. Have them dissect the movements as if they’re both the athlete on defense and the athlete in offensive position of the same act. How can you defend those moments of play? Once the players have developed their attack, have a partner perform the act as both the offensive position and the defensive… Now ask them to watch it again and dissect the video again. Now, have them watch their strategy unfold on those three minutes. 1) Remind them of their willingness to focus on their opponent and how they may put themself in the better position by being prepared 2) allow their teammate to critique their method and allow them to make adjustments as needed. 3) check for understanding and clarify as needed.
Welcome
👋 Welcome to the CMPC Mentorship & Exam Preparation Lab You’re in the right place if you’re preparing for the CMPC exam and want clarity, structure, and ethical confidence—not overwhelm. This community supports CMPC candidates in two clear pathways, so you can engage in the way that fits your goals right now: Pathway 1 – Exam Preparation Only For candidates who want structured lessons, exam-aligned practice questions, and applied reasoning support—without mentorship hours. Pathway 2 – Group Mentorship (up to 20 hours) Includes live group mentoring calls, case discussions, and professional development aligned with AASP guidelines. Participation may count toward allowable group mentorship hours when documented appropriately. No matter your pathway, this is a professional, ethical, and supportive space designed to help you think like a CMPC—not just pass an exam. Start with Module 0: Start Here and move at a pace that supports your learning. Glad you’re here.

Pathway 2 and 3 for me.
Role Confusion
What part of the CMPC role feels most clear to you right now ?What part feels least clear?

Clearest: I believe the way that I strive to further my knowledge base to benefit my clients is how I’m motivated and ready to attack my goals at completing the CMPC. Least: I feel I still have a bit of imposter syndrome when it comes to my expertise. I am Confident in diagnostics and reporting and tracking progress, but I sometimes feel I’m my own worst enemy in the pursuit of this certification.

@Corel Anthony I am a licensed therapist also. I think this part is where I get caught up because I want to ensure that I’m providing both ethically sound advice as a licensed person, but maintain my ability to be a good CMPC and “stay in my lane” if you will.
