Welcome Wednesday 🐱vs🐶
ようこそ!Youkoso!!🙇‍♂️ Welcome to all our new members over the last week. This community is for us to learn Japanese together. There is a lot to master, but if we support each other in going step by step, we can do it! This week's question is: 猫か犬?🐈🐕 ねこかいぬ? Cats or dogs? Quiet companion, or Man's best friend? This question is open to all! Arigatou, Joe Sensei. Welcome: @Natalie O @Shigeru Jiro @Jong Woo @Cecilia Parks @Md Mehran @Tsuki Michi @Sudharsan Kanthan @Brent Rex @Shiv Monga @May Tan @Milton Almarza @Alessandra Sun @Juliet Crosby @Teresa Morales @Abdulhadee Shaikh @Nathan Zhang

Today and tomorrow and...
今日 kyou today 明日 ashita tomorrow 昨日 kinou yesterday 一昨日 ototoi the day before yesterday 明後日 asatte the day after tomorrow I thought I'd post about these after a question from @Lydia Cox The last two are so useful and I wish we had the words in English. I made a video going through the phrases too. Arigatou, Joe Sensei!

Grand Sumo Day 2 Sumo Fact! 🇯🇵
Day 2 Highlights on NHK: https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/tv/sumo/tournament/202603/day2.html 🇯🇵 Sumo Fact: Yokozuna The highest rank in sumo is 横綱 (よこづな / Yokozuna). The word literally means “horizontal rope.” It refers to the large rope belt worn by Yokozuna during the ring entrance ceremony. Becoming a Yokozuna is extremely difficult. A wrestler must show not only strength and consistent victories, but also dignity and good character. Once promoted, a Yokozuna cannot be demoted — they usually retire if they can no longer perform at the highest level. Would you like to see a Yokozuna compete one day? 🇯🇵💪

Heyy everyone
My name is Cecilia I am fluent in German (mother tongue) and English and would love to learn Japanese. I always liked the sound and tone of it and got more interested over the years. The first time I ever heard Japanese was the movie “The last Samurai” and I was in love with it. I don’t really own anything Japanese but I grew up with anime and had a Japanese best friend when I was young. I hope we all will do our best and I try to be more consistent in learning the language.

📝 今週の日記(Weekly Diary)
✏️ Goal: Write a short diary entry in Japanese 🧠 Mini Lesson: Place に行きます (go to a place) To say “go to a place” in Japanese, we use: Place + に + 行きます Place + ni + ikimasu に shows the destination. Examples: 店に行きます。 Mise ni ikimasu. I go to a shop. 公園に行きます。 Kōen ni ikimasu. I go to the park. 📍 Useful Places 店 — mise — shop レストラン — resutoran — restaurant 公園 — kōen — park 学校 — gakkō — school カフェ — kafe — café 仕事 — shigoto — work ✅ Beginner Diary (with romaji + English) 明日はひまです。 Ashita wa hima desu. Tomorrow I am free. 店に行きます。 Mise ni ikimasu. I will go to a shop. レストランに行きます。 Resutoran ni ikimasu. I will go to a restaurant. 公園に行きます。 Kōen ni ikimasu. I will go to the park. 楽しみです。 Tanoshimi desu. I am looking forward to it. 🫵 Your Turn Write 2–4 sentences about where you will go. Example: カフェに行きます。 公園に行きます。 Simple is perfect 😊
