Guerrilla marketing
I was talking to somebody the other day who was just lost their job and was looking for contract work in the Architectural area. They had just finished several years as a construction manager and they had really enjoyed it. I talk to them about what options they might be able to look at and I use the term guerrilla marketing, some people call this inbound marketing. I mentioned a couple of books that would really help him, but I wondered if anyone else had any comments that I could share with him.

@Taylor Coffin Inbound marketing and guerilla marketing ideal for people like me who provide a service, especially when the service relies on a special skill level. For example, I’m a specialist using design and documentation software and the way that I get people to understand my skill level is to get involved on forums, write articles and post comments that show I am highly skilled and know what I’m doing. As well as showing my skill level, it also helps people to feel confident in my abilities. If I show my personality in my writing, it also shows people what I’m like and so they can feel comfortable with working with me.

@Taylor Coffin I just realised I've got Sell Like Crazy. I just haven't read it yet. It's sitting behind me in my library, so you're reminding me to get it out and make use of it.
The E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber
The subtitle of this book is why most small businesses don't work and what to do about it. I think this is one of the most important books you need to read if you're thinking of setting up your small business. A lot of people go into business thinking that if they're good at a task then they got it running a business about that. The reality is that there was a lot more to running a small business than just doing the Technical task. I'm guilty of this as well. But I'm gradually learning to do the other components that need to be done in order to keep my small business going. One of the challenges is to avoid these non-Technical parts of your business because they're not enjoyable, because you just enjoy the Technical part. I've learned that you need to enjoy those non-technical parts because they keep the Technical part going. I wrote some notes about this and I think that there are three parts to running your business: Technical - that is the work that you have to get done Managerial - that is the work that you need to do to keep your business running, like your accounts, marketing etc Entrepreneurial - this is where you think about your business and plan the development of your business.

Think like a CEO
Your Startup Just Went Viral… for the Wrong Reason. Your product just blew up on TikTok—but not in the way you hoped. A customer posted a video highlighting a flaw in your design. Now it has 3 million views. The twist? Sales are spiking from the attention—but public trust is taking a hit. You’re the CEO. What’s your next move? Drop your strategy in the comments. Let’s see who’s got the CEO mindset.

fix the problem first, then tell people what you did

@Ajab Ghegha I watching the Skool News and they covered this in the community, they said to fix problems before you make any new features. So if I was the CEO, I'd make sure the problem got fixed or a solution was found, and then I would apologise and explain how the problem was fixed.
