Welcome to Get Hired 101 🎉
Welcome to the Community 🚀 You made it. You’re here because you’re done playing by rules that were never built for you. Let me tell you how I ended up here—and why this community exists. The Plan Was Simple I was born and raised in the US. Colombian parents, but fully American. I never imagined living anywhere else. I thought I knew the playbook: • Move to a big city • Get the corporate job • Climb the ladder • “Make it” So I did exactly that. I moved to New York City, started grinding, building my career, following the script perfectly. Then March 2020 hit. Everything shut down. The office vanished overnight. The ladder I’d been climbing? Gone. The system I was working toward? No longer existed. Suddenly I was stuck in an apartment in NYC watching my plans dissolve. I had two options: • Panic and hope things “went back to normal,” or • Pivot and figure out what came next I chose to pivot. Everything Changed My job went fully remote, and at first, I thought it would be great. It wasn’t. I burned out—badly. With no structure, no boundaries, no direction, I eventually left that job completely fried. Then came the hardest part: almost two years of wandering professionally. I applied to hundreds of jobs a day. I said yes to anything. I tried to stay remote at all costs. But I had no plan. No strategy. Just desperation and hope. It was exhausting. Demoralizing. And honestly, humiliating at times. Yet somewhere in all that chaos… something clicked. I realized the jobs I did land—the ones that actually worked out—weren’t coming from the spray-and-pray approach. They came from something different. Something unconventional. So I started paying attention. Reverse-engineering. Testing. Refining. Slowly, things shifted. I wasn’t just surviving anymore—I was figuring out the game. My Priorities Changed I didn’t want to go back to an office. I didn’t want a commute. I didn’t want to live somewhere just because “that’s where the good jobs are.” I wanted freedom.
