How Room-by-Room Quests Work
This is the Quest Log for the guild. Here I’ll document real renos and repairs from our own home so you can see the process, not just the final photo. You’ll find: - Step-by-step breakdowns of projects by room - Tools and materials I used - Progress updates and lessons learned - Occasional member “quest logs” too How I’ll title quests I’ll use: QUEST LOG – ROOM – PROJECT Examples: - QUEST LOG – Entry – Weekend refresh - QUEST LOG – Bathroom – New vanity + caulk - QUEST LOG – Kids’ Room – Trim + paint upgrade You’ll be able to skim titles and dive into the quests that match your home. How you can use this - Get ideas for your own house - Copy the steps when your room has a similar issue - Ask follow-up questions in the comments If you decide to document your own mini-quest, you can post it here too. Just use the same format and include progress updates in the comments.

@Daisy Tech Thanks for being here! Just a quick note — the DadBuilt Guild stays focused on homeowner + reno + repair quests, so we don’t allow outside marketing or offers in posts or comments. You’re welcome to participate as a member and join in the quests tho!
Show & Tell: Share Your XP Wins
This is the celebration room of the guild. 🎉 Big or small, this is where you show what you’ve done and earn XP: - Fixed a squeaky door? - Patched your first hole in drywall? - Re-caulked a tub that grossed you out for months? - Finished a whole weekend “quest”? Post it here. How to share a win Use this title format: XP WIN – ROOM – SHORT DESCRIPTION Examples: - XP WIN – Hallway – Door finally closes quietly - XP WIN – Bathroom – First time caulking a tub - XP WIN – Kitchen – Replaced ugly cabinet handles In the post, include: - Before and after photos (if you have them) - What was wrong - What you did - Anything you learned or would do differently next time I’ll jump in and celebrate with you (and maybe add a tip or two). This is also where other members see what’s possible at their “level” — so your wins help them too.

Tools, Materials & Loot: What’s Worth It (and What Isn’t)
This category is all about gear and supplies: - Tools worth buying (and when) - Materials I trust for certain jobs - Places beginners waste money - “If I had to start from scratch” kits You’ll see posts like: - Tool of the week and how I actually use it - Good / better / best options at different budgets - Paint, caulk, flooring, and other material choices - What I keep in my “always on hand” kit Use this space to: - Ask: “Is this tool worth it yet at my level?” - Share a tool or material you love (with why) - Post product photos/links and ask, “Would you buy this for X job?” The goal is to help you build the right kit at the right time, not blow cash on shiny stuff you won’t really use.

READ FIRST: How to Ask the Guildmaster for Help
This is where you get personal help with your home renos and repairs. Post real problems from your house, and I’ll walk you through how I’d tackle them as a carpenter & handyman dad. To keep this useful for everyone, please follow this format. 1. Use this title format ROOM – SHORT PROBLEM Examples: - BATHROOM – Cracked caulk around tub - ENTRY – Door won’t latch and scrapes floor - KITCHEN – Soft spot under sink cabinet - EXTERIOR – Peeling paint on trim This makes the library easy to search later. 2. What to include in your post The more detail, the better I can help you: 1. Photos Wide shot (so I can see context) Close-up (so I can see the problem) 2. What’s going on What you see / hear / smell How long it’s been happening If it’s getting worse 3. House context (if you know it) Approx age of the home Any previous work done in that area 4. What you want Quick fix to stop the bleeding? Proper repair that will last? Or “this is ugly, how do I make it nicer without a full reno?” 5. What you’ve tried (if anything) Even if it “failed,” it helps to know. 3. How I’ll usually answer Most replies will look like: - What I think is happening - Option A – Quick/cheap fix - Option B – Better/longer-term fix - Tools & materials I’d use - Rough time estimate - When I’d call a licensed pro instead of DIY If your question turns into a great “general” lesson, I may also record a short video and add it to the Classroom, then link it back here so future members can learn from it too. 4. Important boundaries I’m here to help you think through: - What’s actually going on - What’s realistic to DIY - How to plan and execute small renos and repairs I’m not: - Inspecting your house in person - Signing off on structural / code / legal decisions Always check your local codes and use licensed trades where required. When you’re ready, hit New Post in this category and start your first quest. 🛠️ If you’re not sure how to title it, copy this and fill it in:
