Not too tight. Not too loose.
There’s a story in Zen Golf about a musician asking the Buddha how he should hold his mind in meditation. Should he concentrate hard and control it tightly… Or relax and let it wander? The Buddha asked him a question in return: “When you tune your instrument, do you make the strings too tight or too loose?” The musician replied: “Neither. I make them just so.” Golf is exactly the same. Grip the club too tight and you lose feel. Relax too much and the swing becomes sloppy. But this idea goes beyond the swing. If you try too hard on the course, you get tense, rushed, and emotional. If you don’t care enough, you lose focus and discipline. Peak performance lives in the middle. Not too tight. Not too loose. Just so. That balance.. the right level of intensity and calm, is where great golf actually lives. Curious where you tend to fall on the course? • Too tight and trying too hard • Too loose and losing focus Drop a “tight” or “loose” below 👇
