Problem Framing vs. Foundation Sprint vs. Design Sprint - When to use each and why?
Once the Foundation Sprint launched, we had many questions about how it differed from the methods we already used, like Problem Framing and Design Sprints. So, I wrote a detailed article on this topic: šŸ‘‰ Read article

How to make Foundation Sprints work in large organizations
🚧 Avoid a shaky foundation for your Foundation Sprint. The new kid on the block is the Foundation Sprint, a two-day workshop by Jake Knapp and John Zeratsky that helps teams: āœ”ļø Clarify their target customer āœ”ļø Define the problem they solve āœ”ļø Identify their value proposition and differentiators Naturally, product and innovation teams (and the consultants working with them) are eager to run Foundation Sprints—especially in large organizations. āš ļøĀ But here’s the problem: I’ve seen this play out before. The Design Sprint was a game-changer but it was poorly implemented in complex orgs. The same fate awaits the Foundation Sprint if teams don’t approach it the right way. Its simplicity is deceptive, and without the right setup, it won’t deliver the intended impact. That’s why I wrote this article—to help teams avoid the common traps and make Foundation Sprints actually work in large organizations. If you're planning to run a Foundation Sprint, read this first. šŸ‘‰ Read article

šŸ“£ New Template 🌟 Foundation Sprint Workshop based on "CLICK"
As we've been reading the book "Click" by Jake Knapp and John Zeratsky, we decided to take it a step further—turning the insights into a practical Miro board and workshop recipe. If you haven’t read the book yet, no worries! This workshop gives you a clear, hands-on understanding of how to guide a team through 2 focused days of aligning on the right problem, identifying differentiators, and moving confidently towards a founding hypothesis. Check it out and let me know what you think—I’d love to hear your thoughts! https://www.designsprint.academy/free-templates/the-foundation-sprint-workshop-template

@Chelsea Rink we have not seen that board, so I would not know :). While we followed the process in the book, we also put the facilitator hat on and tried to ensure a smooth flow and directions for participants.

If you’re a product leader, you know the juggling act: šŸ’¼ Balancing business goals. šŸ¤ Keeping stakeholders aligned. šŸŽÆ Meeting customer needs. šŸ› ļø Leading your team without getting stuck in the ā€œfeature factoryā€ trap. It’s a lot to handle, but it doesn’t have to be so overwhelming. That’s why John Vetan and I are kicking off the year with a webinar focused on Problem Framing—a framework that helps you: āœ”ļø Solve the right problems (not just symptoms). āœ”ļø Align stakeholders and get everyone on the same page. āœ”ļø Build solutions that deliver real impact. šŸ’” What’s on the agenda? 1ļøāƒ£ How to avoid common pitfalls like misaligned priorities and endless debates. 2ļøāƒ£ The three Problem Framing phases: → Spotting opportunities → Fact-finding & discovery → Running a Problem Framing workshop šŸš€ Bonus: We’ll also share our Strategic Opportunity Brief, a tool we use to align teams and drive focus on high-priority challenges. šŸ‘‰ Save your spot here!
