Fit Check!!!
Guys, I want everyone to start knocking out the Firefighter Fit Check this week. We’re checking your muscular endurance, conditioning, power, grip, core, and mobility to identify what needs work and track your progress. Here’s what’s included: ✅ Push-ups ✅ Pull-ups or a timed bar hang ✅ Standing broad jump ✅ Farmer’s walk ✅ Forearm plank ✅ A 12-minute Cooper test or 2,000-meter row ✅ Ankle mobility, overhead shoulder reach, and a bottom-of-squat hold You don’t need to finish everything in one day. Spread the tests out and save the hard efforts for an off-shift day when you’re recovered. Follow the instructions in the document and record any modifications. If you can’t do a pull-up or hold a squat with your feet flat yet, that gives us something specific to work toward. Start where you are. 👉 Open the Firefighter Fit Check Post your results in the comments as you complete them. If you’re unsure about a movement, share a video and we’ll help you out. Which test are you starting with? 💪

That's next level dude. I can see firehouses becoming wellness facilities for us. Chairs in the sun, color coded training, ten time for regulation, and the sauna! That is gonna be sweet!
Walk Club
Been getting most guys in the station out every night after dinner for a mile digestion walk. Guys are into it. Good crew building and beats sitting around the table for forever after dinner. Instead we get out and walk.

Dude that's amazing. Leading the shift!
Nobody Warms Up When The Tones Drop
Monday night, a 38 year old third string quarterback walked onto the field for the Chicago Bears. Case Keenum hadn't started a game in almost three years. He had retired once already. The starter got hurt. The backup got hurt. The job fell all the way down the depth chart to him. He beat the unbeaten Eagles and threw two touchdowns. When people asked how, he pointed to something he's said for years: "You don't have to get ready if you stay ready." Every firefighter understands that. We don't get to stretch when the tones drop at 3am. We don't get a week's notice before the worst call of our career. We stay ready for the job every single shift. But most of us don't do that for our health. We go hard for a while. Then overtime stacks up, sleep falls apart, the kids get busy, and training drops to zero. Then a few months later we "start over." Again. Here's the problem. Zero is the only dose that really costs you. Every year that road back gets longer. And the research says much of the muscle and fitness we blame on age actually comes from disuse. Our bodies don't expire at 40. They fade when we stop using them. Keenum didn't stay ready by training like a starter. He stayed ready on the minimum. Film, meetings, reps in his head. We can do the same thing. On a tough stretch, you don't need a full program. You need a maintenance dose: 1. Two Zone 2 sessions a week, 20 to 30 minutes at a pace where you can still talk. Easy enough to do on shift. 2. Two hard sets, twice a week, on the big patterns. A squat or hinge, a push, a pull. 3. Protect one sleep window. Same bedtime on your off nights, no matter what. That's it. Not progress. Just keeping the door open so you're not starting from the parking lot later. You don't have to get healthy if you stay healthy. Reply and tell me which one fell off first for you. Training, sleep, or food. Stay calibrated, John

Welcome To The Club!
Let's give it up for @William McArtor Will just went all in on his health and I could not be prouder of this guy. 3 years on the job, 24/48 rotation, and instead of waiting until year 15 to deal with what the job does to us, he is building his foundation NOW. That is what smart looks like. No excuses, just action. That is Will. Drop a welcome in the comments and show him some love. This community gets stronger every time one of us decides to stop surviving and start rebuilding. Glad you're here, brother.
