WHOS THAT MAN
Just having a bit of fun painting. originaly I painted the suit green, but wasnt sure of the colour, so did it again in dark grey. I found this quite amusing, but its probably just me. Im presently thinking about one or two paintings with yellow welly boots and umbrellas. why? simply because I dont usually like yellow, so why not paintg an amusing painting in yellow. I know. Ihave an odd sense of humour.
WHOS THAT MAN
Next level ?
I'm considering taking my art to the next level. I don't know what you all think. Let me explain, I was at my brothers wedding last weekend, and I was impressed with the table designs. These also included light up bottles with designs mimicking the place settings etc. I spoke with my new sister in laws sister, who had done all the decorations. Quite a talented artist. I asked how she did it, and she explained that she drew and produced all the artwork freehand, and then photographed and uploaded it to a CRICUT, machine. Where she printed and cut it out, using various materials, which she attached to the objects such as bottles vases etc. And cards etc for place settings with her artwork were printed straight out. I was really impressed especially with the light up bottles, with her intricate designs, and silluetts. Very effective. So I'm presently researching, and considering getting one of these, to use with my own artwork. Very early stages yet, but I'm looking into it. She has also invited me up to Essex at some point, to watch her and get some hands on experience. And hopefully teach me how I could use it for my own work. I hadn't heard of Cricut machines before. So I find it fascinating. I don't know if any of you have had any experience with them, and what you think? 🙂

Finally finished. all disappeared Continents and some lost islands and land added. Quite intricate, and took some time to do, but finally there.

Sketches have led to other things.
While here at the pool side coffee bar, I got chating to a guy who saw me sketching palm trees earlier, and asked if he could see them. It turns out he is a local artist, and was commitioned to produce all the many paintings in the hotel. He paints what he describes as contemporary modern abstract. His paintings contain small clues, which he leaves people to interpret themselves. I was chating to him for ages, and he offered to give me a guided tour of his work, hanging in the hotel. Five floors! 2 1/2 hours later he showed me his temporary art studio, which the hotel has provided him with, as they are gradually refurbishing parts of the hotel, and have commissioned him to do some more paintings to display He gave me a quick demonstration of how he does them. Once he has an idea he produces a painting really quickly, or allows it to develop. Some of which he signs across them vertically, or horizontally. His signature becoming part of the painting. A really interesting guy. As Julies spending some time with her friends at the Spa tomorow, He's invited me to join him in his studio tomorrow. And offered to show me and give me some hints on different techniques. I may even have a go myself.

Time for coffee again. And a brandy to keep us going. Had a fab day so far. Have learnt lots of small new techniques. One involves experimenting with geometric shapes. Using a thin streched canvas, which he has an adjustable frame for. painting various designs, with complimentary colours, and then cutting out sections in various geometric shapes. Using a pre prepared template to ensure consistency. Then arrange them on a prepared canvas. Painting an outline on them to blend them into a large canvas, and seal them. Another was quite interesting. Do you remember at school Using crayons to cover a paper in different colours, colour the whole page on top with black, and then scratch of pictures and designs with a needle, pen, or anything sharp. We'll you can do the same thing with acrylics by layering them, and scratch in designs on the top layer, do long as it's still slightly tacky. You can also combine both the above to get some great effects. Aparenly he got his art degree in Paris, and later worked with a couple of artists, to gain more experience. He than chise the contemporary, modern, abstract form for his own work, although he uses other styles, and has joined with a few people in France who he trained with, and paint similar paintings and styles, and formed their own art movement. Fascinating.

working on lots of ideas. I have decided abstract painting, while intertesting, is not my inspirational style. the two paintings I worked on in Tunisia, are on display in the hotel. while fun to do, I probably wont repeat them, or continue in that style. but it was good for experience.
Happy Saturday
Saturday check-in: Has anyone started their “weekend plans” they were so excited about … or are you like me, just moving slowly from kettle to sofa, pretending this is part of the creative process? 🫣🙆‍♀️🧑‍🎨 🤪 If you do one tiny creative thing this weekend, doodle, glue a weird collage scrap, splash some paint, tell us below so we can all applaud your “highly productive” weekend. Have a great weekend guys xx

really im just doodling lots of ideas. practicing differentnt techniques, and deciding what to work on next. I produced a couple of abstract paintings while in Tiunisia, but decide while interesting it wasnt really my choice of style, but good for the experience. Ive also been working on my lost lands and contnents painting. the subject of which sparked a lot of interest with a group of people I met while in Tunisia, who were interested in my rersearch for it. which is now aproaching completion. I have found listening to some background musc, while working on art, has helpoed me to switch off and concentrate on what im working on. Again while working with the artist in Tunisia, I found a shared love of progressive Techno house/ Trance, for which I have also worked on compiling and producing my own tracks, using sound files, which has also taken a bit of time. Just as well im retired now. lol. Hopefully this will all be finished before I head back to Tunisia, in 3 or for weeks, to visit a couple of Atlantis sites. Another one of my research subjects for over a decade now, where I am meeting up with Jahanna James, with whome I have been sharing research on Atlantis. she is a researcher and media producer, who has shared my interest in the subject for the past 5 years. We will hopefully be visiting the Golf of Gabes, ("'the pillars of Herecles' ) and the chott el djerid, on the Tunisian salt plain desert, which is the original entrance to the Atlantis waterway, which was used as a star wars film set. and close to the Atlas mountains. this might also inspire some new artwork, you never know. As well as finishing of my write up on my Atlantis research and study, which has involved world wide travel. Heres a quick taster, for my lost lands painting. just a few more details to go.
