Is Tax really a good reason to Move?
Taxes come up often when people talk about relocating. That seems to be the first selling feature when you hear about Dubai, Portugal or Florida, Texas with lower rates, better structures. I’d like to think most moves that actually stick are driven by something else first like pace of life, time, energy, weather, community or space to think. I agree that taxes may support the decision, but does it tip the scale? Strip the numbers away for a moment. If distance was not the constraint, what SINGLE factor would matter most in choosing where to live next? EVEN if just a city or state.

Not for me. You also have to look really closely at the overall tax rate, and what you get or don't get. For example, I paid slightly higher taxes when we lived in the next county over, but I didn't have to pay directly for garbage collection or other things. If you move from California to Texas "for the tax benefits," know that your property taxes are going to be WAY higher and other things cost more too, so it doesn't really net out. In fact, your effective tax rate may be higher all things considered. I'd happily move to a country with "higher taxes" if I got single payer healthcare and all of the other benefits.
What would you do do if you had zero constraints?
Let's say you had no time or money constraints and no responsibilities/commitments. What is the first thing you would do?

Dual Citizenship: Smart or Overkill?
There’s a lot of buzz about “global citizenship.” Helpful for some… or a bit extreme? Curious where you stand. Quick check-in: ✅ I have a second citizenship/passport 🔍 I’ve researched it / considering it ✋ Not for me (at least for now)

How do you withdraw cash when abroad?
Or do you? Cards are more broadly accepted nowadays which could make cash unnecessary and even risky when ATM's can easily be tampered with in some countries. Many credit cards offer no FX fees and many banks offer FREE withdrawals abroad when in network. 🟢 What is your go to: Local ATM's Airport ATM's Cash exchange (at airport or home) Travelers Checks (who remember those?) or something else? Why?

I don’t know if this is the “right” way, but I pretty much exclusively go to legitimate banks and use their ATMs when traveling. I bank in the US with Schwab who cover ATM fees, so that takes care of that for me.
