Has anyone here had problems with timeouts in n8n in longer workflows?
Hi everyone, my automation takes about 10-15 minutes to complete and sometimes just ‘dies’ in the middle. Is there a hack for this?

I've had flow that run 20-30 minutes without issues. I hope I don't start running into hung workflows.

Cheapest AI models for testing?
My workflows do some pretty serious "lifting" but when I'm testing it, I don't want to be paying Claude 4 or OpenAI 5 rates - even though that's what I'll be using in production. Which models do you use when testing so you don't bankrupt yourself before your project is done? I'm especially interested in anyone using OpenRouter, with their plethora of models...

Do you use any specific strategies to deal with API rate limits in n8n?
My automation works perfectly with small amounts of data, but when it scales up, the APIs start rejecting requests...

Interesting. I haven't run into those yet, but I'm doing my calls through OpenRouter so I have access to TONS of models.

@Elisa Fam For me, it's a one shop stop for any model I want to use (just about). They literally have hundreds of them. The only problem I've found is that the model can't be set dynamically. You literally choose it from a drop down. It would be nice if there was a way to "catch" the limit messages (which I did actually get in Openrouter today when using one of their free models for testing). If you can catch the error, then run a different agent . Like an try... catch in coding.

Locally hosting N8N
How many of you are hosting your N8N projects locally? Have you run into any issues doing so? Are there many differences between hosting locally and running them on the N8N site?

@Cono Pascucci Interesting. Because I'm building a Next.js front end for my app(s) and will need someplace to host it, and if I can host both the front end and the N8N backend, that would be ideal.
