Into
My name is Max. I’m 34 years old I started working for small excavation and hardscaping company in April of 2025. I mostly drive dump truck but I operate equipment here and there. Glad to be here and hoping to learn as much as I can.

Welcome, Max. Getting into excavation and hardscaping is a great trade to learn, especially when you’re getting time in both the truck and equipment. Just keep showing up and asking questions — that experience stacks up fast. And I'd love to connect when you're free to chat
Laser
I’m glad you had info on lasers. I learned how to grade with a peep scope and a pencil and paper. I was embarrassed to ask how to use one since I’ve been doing this for so long. Now I know how to use both.

Nothing wrong with that. The guys who learned the old-school way usually understand grading better than anybody. Now you’ve got experience with both, which honestly puts you ahead of a lot of people.
Alberta oil and gas civil earthworks
Hello Everyone! I've been working in Earthworks for 10 years in Western Canada. I started as a grades man, made my way into GPS systems. I went to school at NAIT for the Construction Engineering Technology program. Once I was done, I got back as a project manager in the earthworks world and started my consultancy, doing projects for all sorts of excavation and land clearing contractors. My experience spans from supervision, equipment operation, and project management on site. I spent lots of time inside oil and gas facilities. I have extensive water-sewer experience as well. My father owns a small water-sewer company in northern Alberta. I'm looking to connect and grow my network. Follow me on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/william-thibault-subtrack/ Reach out if you have any questions. I would love to get involved in this community. I left the industry in December to start a new venture, hopefully to help everybody in the earthworks industry. Let me know if you want to hear more about it. It's a life changer.

Hey @William Thibault. That’s a solid background. Going from grades man to PM and starting your own consultancy is impressive. Sounds like you’ve touched every side of the earthworks industry, especially with the water-sewer and oil & gas experience. Definitely interested to see what you’re building next. I'd love to connect when you're free to chat
