Top 10 Tips For Open Mic Nights
Open mic night tips 1. Learn 10 -20 most popular songs - Brown Eyed Girl, Wagon Wheel, Tennessee Whiskey, Something in the Orange, etc… and/or pick songs you and your friends know or songs that are popular where you live… 2. Invite your friends whether musicians or not, they can encourage you, pick on you (to keep you humble, etc) 3. Don’t drink before you play, you may think you sound better, but you probably don’t (if you drink) 4. Only play a 2 or 3 songs and then get off the bandstand, unless they invite you to stay or to come back up later 5. Always encourage other musicians who ā€œget up thereā€ - keeping in mind what goes around comes around, and its better to lift others up rather than tear them down - most will return the favor 6. Stay humble 7. Don't be afraid to ask what key they are playing in, if someone else "calls a tune" 8. Practice ear training when ever you can - so that you can improve your ears - very much needed to play with other musicians, especially if someone calls a tune you don't know yet (do a search here in the group, I've talked about this before) 9. Take a tablet (iPad) or phone with you, if you need to look up the chords real quick 10. Have fun! @Joel Gill

@Melvin Williams yeah it's working again, although I'm thinking about upgrading it soon - because the strings keep breaking like within a week of restringing it so not really sure what's going on with that. Song I have been working on learning is jigsaw falling into place by Radiohead.

@Melvin Williams I think I have a couple videos of me practicing that I can post - I’ll have a look for them
Which one would you choose?!
1. ā€œGuitar Hero Daily Practice Blueprintā€ (PDF or Video Training) 2. ā€œ5 Essential Licks to Sound Like a Guitar Heroā€ (Video Training with Tabs) 3. ā€œThe Ultimate Guitar Gigging Checklistā€ (PDF or Interactive Guide) 4. ā€œUnlock the CAGED System: Chord & Soloing Mapā€ (Blueprint or Cheat Sheet)

Tiny challenge
I just found a new framework, and I’m super excited to try it… I will help someone build up skill in one area, for 3-5 days, and I’m looking for beta testers… it could be a riff, improve your picking, or fingerpicking, improve your technique, learn a song quick, etc… If your interested in trying this out with me, put ā€œinterestedā€ in a comment down below… more to come!

Interested! I think time difference may be an issue though as I am based in Australia
Fun and Easy Way to keep going
Hey Playerz, what has really helped me in my guitar journey is consistently filming myself playing over a long time frame. That way I can sort of pump myself up w any progress I make. I find it lots of fun to pick one song and sort of time lapse it getting better over time This is me practicing Radiohead’s Airbag. Still pretty rough but sounds a lot better than the first video I posted here Check it out if you are intrigued and POST a video of the song you’re working on at the moment if you’re brave Any constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated āœŒļø

@Melvin Williams yeah I get it, me too, 99 .9% of my bandwidth has been on my clients Only thing keeping me going is I don’t let myself drink coffee in the morning unless I have practiced 🤣

@Melvin Williams hey thank you! I think there are 3 guitars - so difficult to play alone. Trying to rip off this version
Faster Picking
Hey, I’m learning the intro to Radiohead’s a Jigsaw falling into place And I am struggling to pick fast enough. Any tips to increase speed I’m not sure if it’s just how I’m holding the pick. Only reason I started playing guitar was to learn Bob Dylan songs, so it’s a bit of stretch Thank you for any suggestions!
