@Kimberly Hale Hi! I’m doing good, how are you? πŸ™‚
Hi Everyone!
I am a new member and currently work full time in accounting for my local government. My brother hired me to design and build a website for his construction/land clearing business. This started me on the path of learning web design. I now want to start my own web design business and do that full time. My issues right now are that I don't have a portfolio and don't know where to start with setting up my business. I look forward to working alongside of you all and growing with this community. Thank you!

@Michael Khaikin Thank you! I haven't chosen one yet. I just got Framer and Webflow to experiment with. What about you, which which platform do you use/prefer?

πŸ€” Niche vs No Niche (Your Most Important Decision)
Should you niche down and possibly limit yourself from getting more clients, or should you be a generalist and not be perceived as an expert in any field? This is the first and arguably the most important decision you'll make for your web design business. The one thing you should NEVER do is be a complete generalist. Meaning offering any type of web design service to any type of business with any tool. - You wouldn't bring your Ferrari to a general mechanic who works on Fords or Toyotas) Not only will you overwhelm yourself but you'll be fighting for low paying clients. A niche doesn't have to mean "Dentists" or "Roofing Companies". It can also mean being a "Webflow Expert" which would be the tool you use. Or it can be "Highly Converting Landing Pages" which would be the service. But niching down in any way will be VITAL to charging more for your service as (and this is important), you'll be able to offer more VALUE to your clients! With that in mind I would love to know πŸ‘‡ (tell me in the comments) 1️⃣ What niche have you chosen 2️⃣ Why did you choose that niche P.S. If you're struggling to choose a niche let me know in the comments and I'll try and help you! P.P.S I'll be covering Niches in more detail in the FULL MINI COURSE releasing next week on YouTube with a complete Step-By-Step Document! P.P.P.S You can also check out this video where I go over how you can find your ideal Niche: #4. Niche Selection

I chose Home Repair and Construction and Webflow as my niche(s). I chose the broad category for more business opportunities, but please let me know if I should niche down further.

My goal is to establish my web design business by July 1, 2025 and land my first official client. Action Steps: 1. Form my LLC and choose my niche. 2. Complete my portfolio of at least 10 landing pages and post the work on Behance, Dribble, Instagram, and other platforms if necessary. 3. Setup up client management tools, accounting software for business, and establish SOPs. 4. Contact at least 10 local companies for a website re-design through either phone, email, or Facebook/Instagram.
