What's the one burning question you have about screenwriting, filmmaking, producing, or directing? The thing that's been stuck in your head. The thing you haven't found a straight answer to. The thing keeping you from moving forward. Drop it in the comments. I'll answer.

Here is mine. As a director I almost always know the ending and a couple of strong middle scenes before I have any idea how the story opens, and I tend to carry a few versions of the same scene at once. My burning question is how do you know when a story is actually ready to commit to and shoot, versus when you are still quietly avoiding a hole in it. Where is the line between honest development and just circling the same ideas?

@Melissa Butler thank you, that is a really clear way to put it. The honesty with yourself part lands for me. That nagging feeling is usually the story quietly telling me where the hole is, and I have learned the hard way that ignoring it just costs me later. You are right that I tend to chase perfection and circle on my own, so bringing it to other people sooner is the real fix. I will absolutely come to a Feedback Friday. Happy to be here.
