Jo Jo - (don't get hit by Scott's smashes :))
Jo Jo Jo Jo is a really composed and patient player who is comfortable staying in the rally. Movements are generally controlled, and you do not feel compelled to turn every ball into an immediate attack. Holds position well during longer kitchen exchanges and provides a stable platform for her partner. Your best route to becoming more attacking is through placement and angles rather than additional power. Strengths - Calm and patient during rallies. - Controlled movement and shot-making. - Good rally tolerance. - Willingness to let the ball come to you. - Stable positioning during kitchen exchanges. - Provides a dependable base for a proactive partner. evelopment priorities - Hold the paddle higher and farther in front. - Use small lateral adjustment steps (sometimes lean out a bit). - Recover towards the middle after being pulled wide. - Move sideways in coordination with the partner. - Use crosscourt dinks and controlled angles. - Target the opponent’s outside foot. - Recognise higher balls that can be attacked safely. (Smash with placement not power) Next progression is to turn stability into purposeful pressure. Keep playing patiently while using each controlled shot to move the opposition and create a better opportunity. Simple cue: “Hold the line, then create the angle.”
