Challenge DAY 11: Gear!!
Guys, we are almost there!!! Today, we are thinking about visual expression of the film based on the gear. Let’s make a gear checklist. What tools do you have, and what visual creative solutions can you use? Will you need a drone and how will you use it? What lenses and looks are you going for? Why? How many cameras? Bonus: Will there be any archival in your film? If so, where will you source it?

We have an online software for recording. I purchased a microphone and I found someone to do the post production. I will need a website and some more software for editing. Not purchased yet though.
Challenge DAY 14: SCHEDULE YOUR FILM!
It’s the Final day of the challenge!! How fast did the days go by!! Did you find more clarity on your projects?? Today, with all the information and creativity you’ve gathered for your project, the homework is to: 👉🏼 Schedule out your pre-production, production and post production. Be really realistic. Make a plan of shooting, based on your character availability, and let that dictate the rest of your schedule. I would typically give myself 2 weeks time to pre-pro, then see when the main events happen to film, schedule those, and then block out at least 2 weeks of post-production (for a short doc). Who could edit this? What graphics do you need? What is the minimal amount of money you could pull this off with? Now is the time to figure it out. 🦴Bonus: check in how you are feeling inside. What still holds you back? Can you name the resistance? If so, bravely look it in the eye, hear what it has to say (fear of failure? Not trusting your vision?), have an honest conversation with it - and move forward with the film anyway, acknowledging that we all have fears and creative doubts, pretty much every step along the way. I’m so proud of you!! Here we go!!! 🌻

I think I missed some steps. But I was actually recording my podcast 😅 Schedule is to be recording the next 4 weeks. Then give it to post production. Starting the website, presenting it on the conference end of march and then watching post production and starting marketing for the release middle of June
Challenge DAY 12: Strategize the outcome
Holy smokes, we are almost there!! Today is a big day. We are thinking strategy. Consider where this short film could premiere: aim for Vimeo Staff picks? Perhaps a local film festival? Or your Youtube channel? This connects to your audience, and to the biggest Why of your film. Where would you envision this film playing? What does it need to get there? Who do you know that could help you share the message? Think about it, research some, dip into your LinkedIN to see who do you know where, and report what you have found below. Good luck!

The release date will be the 21st of June online. Why? Because it's the day with the most daylight in the northern hemisphere. There will be 2 conferences where I will present the pilot in person. Always with the strategy in mind: connect people to the topic and make them realise, that light is important for everything on this planet.
Challenge DAY 13: Your Hook
Holy shit, we are almost there!! Today we ponder - What’s the opening shot or scene of our films? How does it all start? What do you need to tell the audiences, and what do you need to tease us with, in the first seconds of your doc? If something comes immediately to your mind, like a drone shot over a city you will be filming - what more original could you come up with? This is a time to play imagining what it could open with.

Hmm, difficult. How to visualise something that is impossible to see, but makes visible? Maybe exactly this: Have you ever seen light? Or was it just an object which was illuminated by light? How about listening to it?😁
Challenge DAY 6: LOGLINE TIME!
Hi all! We are almost half way through, and today is time to write (and rewrite, and rewrite until you kind of like it) your LOGLINE. Write a 1-2 sentence logline that summarizes the core of your STORY (so Not the topic or theme; Story as it will unfold on the screen). Logline typically contains a well crafted sentence about a protagonist/ a main person in the film, their big goal, challenge or struggle, what’s at stake, and why it’s special, or urgent, or unbelievable. It’s ok to fuss with the logline until you’re editing. Just write multiple versions and you will see how eventually it will start sounding close to how you are envisioning your story. Post that one here 🙏🏼 Good luck!
