Cob Quonset House - photos
Here are some photos from the "Cob Quonset House" that we completed a few years back. The home builder had put up a metal quonset hut structure, and they wanted the two end walls filled in with cob. Here's what it looks like!

@Alex Sumerall - It would be amazing to see a video about this home. I’d like to learn about the challenging points. Is it hard to color concrete? I’d think that would last a lot longer than paint.

@Alex Sumerall that sounds like a big problem. But I can understand why the concrete company wouldn’t want to get a lot of colour in the concrete truck 🥴 Is there a way to swirl in some color onto the top of the slab before it starts to set?
Building Layout Tip! Batter Boards and Stringlines
I've just begun the layout for constructing my new timberframe kitchen. Watch to see how I do the layout. Please leave questions. I'd like to document this construction for you all here in the Skool group.

This is going to be really nice! I can’t wait to see how your timber frame comes together. it’ll be interesting to learn about your thinking / decision process of what to fill the walls with. 🤔
This guy built his house for $200. Zero mortgage. 🏡
Sage found his materials right on the property — cob, wood, all free stuff. Only paid for screws, glue, and silicone. And honestly the house looks really nice! $200 is a rare situation, but it proves the $400K/30-year-mortgage thing isn't the only option. I can relate to his tiny living situation too. It really connects you back to the outside world by not being cooped up indoors for everything. What's your target budget for your build? Drop it below, and let me know what you think of this build. 👇

Japanese Earth Plaster, Lime Plaster, Bamboo Wattle Walls
Somebody sent me this video. I thought it was really educational! It's worth a watch.

This video is fantastic! The finish lime plaster, with red algae and fine hemp fibers, looks silky smooth. Just stunning! 😍 When we beat banana fibers, we get pretty fine fiber, but not as fine as the hemp. I wonder how they get the hemp fibers to be so fine? Their lime plaster must be really durable.
Removing Cob Slipforms
Some additional video I found from last Spring.
