I finally got him to smile.
I have been at my shop for three and a half years, and I see our mailman a couple times a week. He has delivered mail to us a few hundred times since I started working there. In that time, I hadn’t seen him smile once, regardless of how cheery or thankful I was for him and his deliveries (regardless of parcel importance). Until… One day, he came and delivered our mail like normal. He put the mail piece on the counter and started walking away. I yelled after him, “Sir! What’s your name?” “Randy.” “Thank you for your work, Randy! My name is Andrew.” Being called his name turned his day around. He smiled. The first time I had seen him smile was when I called him by his name. Now, when he sees me walking around town, he honks and waves. Never underestimate the selling power of people’s names.

People absolutely love hearing their own name. That’s one of the things I love most about connecting with people, their name is an easy way to make them feel special. I know @Zachari Wilks does this at his bar too.
Service is serving.
If you serve to get something out of it, I believe you’re doing it wrong. To truly have infectious generosity and hospitality, you must believe with all your heart that you would do it for free. With no anticipation of getting anything in return. Love what you do; love what you give. When you don’t expect to get, the more you will receive.

@Andrew Winely ☺️
How to get the most valuable guests asking for you specifically.
What is your best tip for asking a valuable guest to come back and sit with you specifically? How do you lock in the relationship?

@Andrew Winely that’s so good. I feel like that is exactly how 95% of the conversations I’ve had have started. People ready like to be given the opportunity to talk about themselves.
How should we tip?
How should we handle our tips? We love getting out in the community and spreading some love to the hard working service industry employees. We are curious on your opinion, should we lean toward one massive tip to a deserving service industry worker each month, ($1000+) or spread it around hand tip many tips ($100-250)? Let us know your thoughts below.

@Andrew Winely that’s amazing. That says so much about you and the type of person you are and why it’s great to work with you. Really great work Andrew.
Who is in Indiana?
Let us know if you are in Indiana. We are looking for some SWM super servers (and bartenders) to sit with.
