I am so excited - I just got my first paid speaking gig. Huzzah! It will be about Johnny Appleseed (who was a very interesting man)!

I just got done folding my laundry. Usually I pull the socks out and create a big pile and sort them after I have folded everything else. The first sock I came to just happened to be next to it’s mate. I thought - oh, that’s lucky! And then it happened again. And again. By the third time I was just waiting and anticipating that the streak would be broken. But it wasn’t. Every single pair of socks in the dryer was already matched up in there. That has never happened to me in my life. So what does it mean? I like to think it means everything in my life is in the proper place and in alignment. Do you have any alternative interpretations?

One of my favorite Cake songs is called Tougher Than It Is. One of the verses in it is: “Well, the more you try to shave the cat The more the thing will bite and scratch It’s best, I think, to leave it’s fur and to listen to it’s silky purr” Some people like to make life a little tougher than it is. Look for ways in which you can replace struggle with ease today. Don’t shave the cat.

The world around me is coming back to life after the winter sleep and it is a time to celebrate. Like Samhain, May eve is a time when the veil between the natural world and the supernatural thins. Witches and fairies roam freely this night. Ward yourself against their enchantments. Fire plays a symbolic roles and smoke and flame were thought to bless and purify. Traditionally hearth fires were extinguished and relit with fire taken from a communal bonfire, drawing on themes of social bonds and shared protection. Light a candle and let the flames draw you in.
