The Anti-SaaS Manifesto Overview
Your Permission Slip to Build
***Read and then type in the comments: "I HAVE PERMISSION TO BUILD"*** This is to certify that I have been granted official permission to: - Spend Saturday building a desktop application - Use Claude to write code you could never write alone - Sell software to people you already know - Charge $29–$99 for a tool that took 8 hours to build - Keep 100% of the revenue - Pay $0 per month in server costs - Sleep soundly knowing your infrastructure can't crash - Ignore anyone who says "You should build a SaaS" - Ship an imperfect product (It's better than no product) RESTRICTIONS You are hereby forbidden from: - Waiting for the "perfect" time to start - Overthinking the idea - Building features that nobody asked for - Worrying about "competition" - Comparing yourself to Silicon Valley startups - Paying money to develop your first app - Hiring a developer to do this for you AUTHORITY TO PROCEED This permission slip is granted by: - The Vibe Coding Council - The Anti-SaaS Movement - Everyone who built a desktop app instead of wasting 18 months on venture capital VALIDITY This permission slip is valid for: 1. The next 7 days (Execute this weekend) 2. The rest of your life (Keep building) 3. The entire existence of your desktop app (Forever license) SIGNED & SEALED Authorized by: Brian & Jess Tech Builders Society The Desktop App Revolution INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Read. 2. Type in the comments below: "I HAVE PERMISSION TO BUILD" 3. YOU HAVE PERMISSION. NOW GO BUILD.

Hi everyone! I’m Jess — co-creator of this community alongside Brian. I live in North Carolina with my husband/high-school sweetheart, our five kiddos, two dogs, and a cat named Cher (do you believe in love? šŸŽ¶). I’ve always been drawn to technology. Over the years I’ve designed websites, administered SharePoint/HubSpot/Salesforce systems, and created thousands of graphics, videos, and other creative content. Technology has always been the backbone of how I work and create. I first got into AI in 2017 through a Coursera certification on IBM Watson, where I built chatbots and even a computer-vision model that identified dog breeds from photos. I also played with some of the earliest AI writing tools like Conversion.AI (before it became Jarvis/Jasper). And then ChatGPT dropped… and everything changed. In early 2023, I created a ā€œChatGPT for Teachersā€ course and really started diving into how powerful use-case development can be when working with AI. If you’re feeling nervous about jumping into vibe coding, trust me — I’ve been there. After finishing my business degree, I actually enrolled in a master’s program for software engineering because it looked fascinating. One week in, I realized I was way over my head. I didn’t have the coding foundation I needed — so I pivoted and got my MBA instead. šŸ˜… Fast-forward to today, and this is why I’m so passionate about AI: AI has made building things—stories, apps, visuals, products—so much more accessible. You don’t need to memorize syntax or learn every language from scratch. Understanding fundamentals is still incredibly helpful, but vibe coding is more about: ✨ observing patterns ✨ communicating clearly ✨ implementing the right workflows ✨ thinking like a builder ✨ and collaborating with AI to bring your ideas to life I’m excited to learn, build, experiment, and explore with all of you (and am super thankful that Brian's here to keep us from running into walls). You absolutely belong here. šŸ’›
