I just visited Andrea’s cobin out here in Saint Helena Ca where she is building herself a Palletable Cobin. Thought y’all would like to see her progress. She’s definitely needing some help with the Cob so we’re talking about putting together on the sort of work party to help make that happen.
I came across these larger pavilions (20×40) and I'm wondering if these might be a good fit for creating a roof and structure for the pallets and cob to go onto? (The website does allow you to increase the roof over hang to 12" or 24") https://amishwholesalegazebos.com/product/20x40-pine-pavilion/?srsltid=AfmBOormA1_6CpCD66VqBNdOomYuzFDPUzKKFNc10QIGDvWT3BSix1lNt-c
Thank you @Sir Cobalot for doing the free call today. I got some good inspiration and questions answered. You had talked about doing a porch type structure to shape for a bigger area. I'm wondering if maybe a metal carport structure that was designed with a bigger overhang might be a good way to go? Would the cob have a negative effect on a metal structure like this?
I'm looking at building in Arkansas, what are your best tips for water proofing cob? (We get a lot of rain) and tornado proofing? Below are two soil samples i took from our property. I'm thinking the more red dirt might be our best one for making cob. What do you think though?
