A couple weeks ago, God started convicting me about something I’ve struggled with for most of my life: emotional eating and gluttony. I remember looking at my finances and asking God, “Why am I so low on money? You’ve always been my provider and always take care of me.” Then I came across a Bible verse about gluttony leading to poverty, and it really convicted me. I realized I had been eating out way too much and spending money on food that I didn’t need to. But instead of feeling condemned, I realized God was actually giving me freedom. He was showing me this because He loves me and wants to develop my character and teach me self control. A couple Sundays ago, I received prayer at church and confessed this to my brother and sister in Christ. I’m so thankful for a church family where I don’t have to feel shame or guilt. I can be honest, receive prayer, and keep moving forward. Pastor David always says, “When we fall, we fall forward.” After I confessed, I literally felt a weight lifted off of me. That same day, my friend invited me to the gym and I was like, “YES LORD!” 😂 Since then, I’ve been fasting more, making better choices, and going to the gym. I’m not going as much as I should 😂 but it’s a start! I already have more energy and just feel so much better. God is so good and merciful. He is still my provider, and I have everything I need. I’m just learning that I don’t need to eat out all the time and that taking care of my body and being disciplined is also part of honoring Him. I’m not perfect. I’m still being sanctified. God is still showing me areas that need to change, and I’m actually excited about it! Every time He reveals something in me, it’s not to shame me. It’s to set me free and make me more like Him. Thank You, Jesus, for Your grace, Your correction, and Your mercy. I’m so excited for what You’re doing in me and what’s ahead!
