@Nick Donderwinkel welcome! did you check out the new art rare Alakazam? It's such a nice card, and not that expensive yet!

@Kevin Krank welcome Kevin! Very cool angle to collecting and would be curious to see what you’ve collected so far
Less known interesting/cool cards
What are some cards that might be overlooked or not talked about enough nowadays? My personal favorites, which rarely come up, are the 2015 Hoopa promo (XY-P 155) and Umbreon (BW 93). Both are pretty reasonably priced, considering what they are.

Yea those are cool! I think these banned cards are quite cool to collect. Sabrina was banned for the middle finger being up too high, grimer for looking under the skirt, and misty for the sideboob. There are a few more, like the crowbat with the buddhism sign
Is PSA still a valid option?
Im currently thinking about getting some cards graded and since PSA is opening an office in Frankfurt I thought about sending them there to grade it as soon as they start. But there have been numerous scandals with PSA, is it still a good idea to get them graded there? I've also read about CGC, what's your opinion on that? My concern is just that my cards don't get the grade they may deserve.

@Nikolai Lieder interesting take, was the buyback scandal proven or is it based on assumptions?

@Nick Zebregs It's simply not worth my time, I make more money working on my business than buying a case, sending it in, getting the cards back, selling the ones I don't want. Also you risk not getting a psa10. Pikachu Poncho 203, it's a nice card, about 5.5k psa10 pop. How I make decisions whether to buy a card like that is to think do I want to have this card in my collection and if the price stays the same for 10 years, do I still enjoy having it? Otherwise it's very hard to hold. If it's purely about investments, I like stocks more. If it's about hobby with an investment angle and enjoyment of having the asset, in this case a card, pokemon cards are really great. You just need to be able to let time to its thing when it comes to value going up, and for that the most important thing for me is actually enjoying having the card rather than thinking that other people will want this card in the future and that's the only reason why I have it. I have a lot of cards that I just enjoy having, not sure if they have gone up yet, they probably have, but I just want to keep them for now, which ironically seems to be a great way to invest and let time pass to build value appreciation, besides focusing on some fundamentals of course, like how old, rare, scarce, and hard to grade the card is multiplied by popularity.
