Keeping the raw footage is definitely smart, especially for a travel channel where old clips can become valuable again later. A setup that usually makes the most sense is having one main drive for working files, one backup drive, and one cloud or off-site backup. That way, if one drive fails, you’re not stuck. I actually call it the 3-2-1 backup approach — 3 copies, 2 different storage types, 1 stored off-site. It can save a lot of stress long term. Also, organizing footage well matters almost as much as storing it. Clear folder names by trip, date, or location can make old footage way easier to reuse later instead of just sitting on a drive somewhere. This kind of thing gets overwhelming fast once the footage starts piling up, so having a simple organized system early really pays off.
